Hey guys, some of you may have seen my first post on these forums. I am a complete amateur when it comes to bows and hunting, but I am really interested in getting into it.

So has it turns out, my sister's boyfriend's cousin had an old bow in storage that he hadn't used for years, a PSE Lightning-Flite II. He said its old but he took good care of it, and knew he wouldn't used it for awhile so tried to store it properly (I don't know what that means).

Anyway, it seemed perfect for me, since I don't want a brand new bow to get started, and its the perfect draw 28" and 60# is good for me too.

It came with a string that he said is ready to shoot with a peep, and he wrote out these other things:

    Nock Point

    2 Prong Arrow Rest

    PSE Unisystem 2 Pin Sight

    Unisystem 8 Arrow Quiver

    Cobra Stabillizer

    Wrist Sling

    String silencers

    11 Carbon Express 200 Arrows

So my question is, what do I do next? I guess I need a target, a wrist guard, and some pointers from all you veterans out there, so let me know whats next,

    Thanks!

i would say get a better rest and depending on the range at which you would like to shoot, possibly get a new sight. then buy a target and practice. make sure the string is still good and use some wax to make sure it stay good.. also what octhereicome said.

Yeah thanks guys, really good advice. Ive learned so much from this sight. I could actually look at this bow and pick out faults. Last week I knew nothing. This week I knew that I would probably want a whisker-biscuit rest and a three pin sight, so I am learning :fro:

I would plan on replacing the string, at least, and cables (unless they're steel). In that era the string material was mostly Fast Flight. A problem with Fast Flight from that era is that it'll just let go from fatigue without signs of wear. It should be replaced every 3 years max. and every year if shot consistently. I had a couple just let go in the case while the bow was stored. You're going to be retuning the system when you get it so save yourself some headache and do it with new string and cables from the start.

The carolina whisker biscuit is a good rest, I've had a few bows with one set up on it, that's a good price too.

Most things you can add as you go and as you decide to upgrade if indeed you do.

Replace those strings ASAP. Strings even when not shot will deteriorate. The last thing you need is it flying apart.
