I'm looking to get a new bow or a "new to me" bow. Looking at a hoyt or Mathews. I'm gonna have to shoot both I know but with the technology how many years back would be the max to getting a used bow?

If I were you I'd shoot the elite energy and if you like it buy it used. Full transferable lifetime warranty! Bows now days are so stinking expensive.

New bows do nothing for me. I buy a couple bows each year most years...they are always the current model year or last years bows.....I always get them used because...why should I take a loss on a new bow when there are guys willing to and turn around and sell them a few months later..
No really a money thing for me more like a principal issue ..,

I bought my Hoyt Crx32 used and I took it to a shop. They looked it over and fix some small stuff but save yourself money and buy used.

I would say if your buying a bow that you are planning on using for years buying new isn't a big deal. I like knowing exactly what's been done what hasn't been done and just overall the treatment of my bow. Also knowing the warranty is intact is nice as well. Now if I was the type person to play musical bows I would be buying used. But for me buying a bow is a long term thought out investment that I probably would be saving for a long time on.

I would try several. The Obsession is s smith draw. I bought a PSE Brut up a few years ago and going from a Darton 8000 it was a jump. I will be looking for a target bow then comming year. I am just starting to look. Buy what you like and try everything. You might not like the main stream bows.
