With your draw length set on your bow, do you have a D loop installed on the string? If so this can make it to long.

Polaris, generally speaking the formula you posted above is the most generally accpeted way of pre-measuring draw length. It's more of a reference than anything. For instance I measure at about 26" but can comfortably shoot at 27 1/2"-28" DL.

What bow are you shooting? do you have an adjustable DL mod that doesnt require a press? The best thing to do is use your above formula and start from there, adjusting as you go.

You can generally feel if your too long or too short, so adjust accordingly. Be careful on going to long, however, as this will cause an inconsistent anchor point, thus poor accuracy. When at full draw your upper body shout be at a 90 degree angle to the ground, or slightly leaning forward. If your leaning back any, your probably too long.

It's hard to explain everything that goes into it on the computer. The best choice, if possible, is to go to a reputable shop and have them help you out. Good luck and keep asking questions!

I shoot a 30" DL, and with that formula it says I should be shooting 31.2". Just a reference

You're 6'6"? I've only ever set up one bow for somebody with an honest 31" draw and he's 6'5".

I find that formula to be pretty accurate but it is just a starting reference. If you have short or long arms in relation to your chest it's going to vary a bit but it always gets me at least the right cam for a bow to within 1/2". Your draw is going to vary from bow model to bow model slightly as well.

I never heard that formula before, just tried it I came up with 30.4. I shoot a 30" draw and a loop! Right on! For me this formula is perfect.
