Well I just put my very first bow on order through the great guys a Black hills archery in Rapid City SD. Got the mission ballistic in matte black with flo green strings going to look sharp I hope. But I needed some good starting points for releases and a quality arrow for a beginner. Hopefully post a couple pics this weekend of it. Thanks for any all input.

Very nice!! Ballistic is a great bow!

I would just talk to the guys at the pro shop and I'm sure they will be more than happy to show you and even let you try a bunch of releases... Sure they will help you get setup with the correct spine/length/etc arrows for your rig too...

But since you asked for suggestions, I can just tell you what I shoot.... I own two different releases - love them both. Flecth Hunter Deluxe and a Hardcore Hunter. I have 3 different arrow models that I've got in my stable currently (again, love them all) - Carbon Express Blue Streaks, Gold Tip Pro Hunters and Victory VAP V1 with the additional 50gr outsert....

Arrows depend on draw weight. For spine anyway. My Ballistic is set at 68# and 28" draw length. I shoot Beman ICS hunter arrows in a .340 spine. Love this bow! Just took first doe with it Sunday nite :)

Congrats on the new bow. I would just visit your local pro shop. Sure you will need your peep, d-loop and everything setup anyways.

Nice choice. I have a Scott shark release. I'm fond of dual caliper releases. And I have always been a fan of gold tip arrows they are known for their strength and durability. I love my ballistic sweet shooting bow

Thank you guys for all the input it will definately help when I get in to the pro shop to do all the final set up. My buddy let me practice with his thumb releases and I have to say I really liked it. Took a little getting used to but the solid feel when drawing back might be reason enough for me to go that route. Trying to keep everything as tight as posible when drawing as most of my hunting will be spot and stalking mule deer and elk here in Montana. As far as arrows go all I have been able to decide on is a heavier arrow to deliver a lot of down range energy. Again thank you guys this forum has been more help then I could ever of imagined.

Got my ballistic yesterday and man is it ssweeettt. So quiet and so smooth on the draw. Also looks way better then I ever expected. Also went with the Easton axis nano for arrow shaft talk about tough and smokin fast. Chronograph at 290 all set up. Basically I am so happy I went with the ballistic for my first bow and can easily see my rifle collecting dust from here on out.

    Sounds like a sweet setup.
As for a release, I found I prefer a strap connector and a buckle on the wrist.

image.jpg There she is in all her glory!!! Needless to say I am one proud daddy. And the Easton axis arrows I got with it are legit tack drivers.
