So I have got pretty obsessed with archery and bow hunting in the last 3 years and have decided to get my own at home set up to work on my own rig and maybe other people who need help.

What gear would you all say in essential to achieve this? I plan to get a square, level kit, serving kit, vise, I already have everything for arrows. Also I am planning on a bow master press with a self made bow holder as seen on antler geeks.

I know the pros are on here and others who share my philosophy on working on your own gear and I look forward to any and all advice you guys and gals might have

I highly suggest you invest in a quality bow press. The bow master will only get you so far on repair work on your bow. The bow master is meant for a quick fix until you can get your bow into a press.

So if I were to use it for string changes and adding twists is that too much. I wouldn't be using it for much more than that I would think. If it came to heavy maintenance it would go to the shop

I do all of my own work with my bow master press. I changed out my strings and tune my bow with it. I will say the only con i have about the press is that it takes a second to put the little split limbs on and to crank that bad boy up. Other than that it is great. I will probably buy a nice press here in the next year. But who knows.
You also don't need to build a bow holder for the press. Since you are buying a vice, put your bow into the vice then put the bow master on it and you are good to go.

I didn't realize you can restring a bow with one. I may have to get one for away from home hunts. Besides the press, a really handy tool I constantly use is a laser center shot tool. You can use them for multiple things other than center shot. When you buy your levels, I would also get a arrow level that has 1/8" high and low marks for proper nock height. D- Loop pliers would also be a good investment.

Good heads up on the level. I have been starring at the laser tool for a bit and might pick it up

Just recently got an EZ Green Bow Press by Last Chance Archery. Our local shop is good and we've known them for years (decades actually). Just a pain to have to run into town when you need something done when they're busy with others who don't know much.

Primarily got mine for bow tuning, changing strings and cables, etc. Also got an EZ bow vise.
