I shot the Reign 7 as well a few weeks ago. Really super nice bow, but very similar to my Experience so the price of upgrading was too steep for the amount of gain. This and I wanted to simply shoot a different brand, whatever that ended up being.
I have shot the Halon 32 (6 & 7), Elite Option 7, and the Pro Defiant (Reg & Carbon). As of now I am really leaning towards the Carbon Pro Defiant 34. But after reading a lot of these posts it seems I may have to find a shop around here to go shoot the Prime bows just to make sure I am making an informed decision before I spend $1300.
Muzzy, does Lancaster archery allow people to test shoot a bunch of recurve bows as well? Lancaster PA is about 2.5 to 3 hrs from my house and I wouldnt mind going up there if I could shoot a bunch of recurves. Heck, if any of you guys are interested in meeting up there one weekend and hitting Lancaster Archery and maybe get some beers, Im game. Thanks for any info Brett
I am not totally sure, but willing to bet you can. It almost seems you can try anything out there if you asked. I'd be game to meet up. I actually have to go back down to get cams swapped out on my bow. Shot it for a while at 29" and discovered that Prime's run almost 1/2 long at 85% letoff. Still feels nice, but would rather shorten it up a smidge. They said two weeks for the cams to come in.
This is exactly what is holding Prime back from gaining more market share and why I did not order one.
the sell guy never ask you/told you about that? anytime a bow has limb stop and you move them in/out you will change your draw length, valley, anchor point
Nope, not a word. Now, I should have realized this with the stops. But what I had no idea on was how long they run even in the middle setting. I am a 30" draw by wing span method, and usually a 29" with loop gets me very close to where I can play with loop length to get me just right. However, this puts me at 30" with a loop and I always felt better a touch on the short side of draw length.
No need to get measured. I know what I need to get to 29.5. With these bows coming in 1/2 long it's fairly easy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KG Another reason I really like the Prime's was the choice of a cable or limb stop, as I generally prefer cable stops. How do the cable stops work in conjunction with drawlength and letoff? That was a question that was not answered at my shop as that was the first Prime they ever had in when I shot their Centergy.
One more thing on this let off / draw stop / draw length topic. Most people will shoot this bow at 85% let off... Prime should have had these bow come in with the correct draw length at 85% let off and have the much fewer who choose to shoot at lower let off percentages get their bow with a longer draw cam and adjust the draw stop back to their desired let off / draw length. Just seems dumb to do it the way they are now.
