Hey guys - new to the forum and bow hunting. I have already learned quite a bit from browsing. I wanted to share a topo map of the 1000 acre place I will be hunting October 15th. I would be really interested in your opinions on where YOU would hunt. It would help me with stand selection. The property is third CRP, third 10 year pines, third oak flats. Thanks in advance and look forward to sharing more stories and info. CTSHuntingClubTopo.jpg

    BigBuck,

Nice map. Do you have those trails and the property boundary in a gpx or kml or tpo file? If so, then you could use Gmap4 to display that file and people that might advise you could flip back and forth between a high resolution topographic map and the Google aerial. For example, this link displays the topo map for a random spot in 'bama land. To see the aerial click (in upper right corner) t4 Topo High ==> Satellite

    http://www.mappingsupport.com/p/gmap4.php?ll=31.963264,-86.8555&t=t4&z=15&hillshade=18

The high resolution topo maps (t4 Topo High) cover the USA except for Alaska.
For Canada, take a look at the 't5 Canada' and 't2 MyTopo' maps.

To display your GPX/KML/TPO file on the map all you have to do is:
    1. Put your file online. Dropbox.com and Google Sites are free
    2. Make a link like so: http://www.mappingsupport.com/p/gmap4.php?t=t4&q=_____________
Replace the underline with the full link that points to your file.

OK, full disclosure time. I'm the developer of Gmap4 which is showing you the topo maps. The homepage has a FAQ and examples to quickly get you up to speed. Check out the features under the Menu button.

This project is part of my way of 'paying it forward'. Translation: Gmap4 is free for non-commercial use.

Note: In some areas the high res "t4 topo high" maps use yellow instead of green to indicate forest. If that is a problem try switching to the medium resolution "t2 MyTopo" maps.

    Gmap4 homepage: http://www.mappingsupport.com/p/gmap4.html

    Enjoy!

    Joseph, the Gmap4 guy
