Still evaluating the pros and cons. My first gut reaction is that I’m happy the divisions have more of a geography base to it. We also are in the same division as our historic rivals (Minnesota and Iowa). It also appears other historic rivals are in the same division. That is the way it should and just makes sense. Don’t set up the divisions based on two teams that used to be dominate for a rematch. More often than not it won’t work out that way anymore anyway. Too much parity these days. It does make it easier for Wisconsin to make the B1G championship game but that isn't really a criteria for me to be honest. I will miss the yearly battle with Ohio State.
I do give them credit for developing their ability to play, but its State. Their teams always struggle with discipline. They find ways to self destruct almost every season. Whether on or off the field. Decent, sure, compete for the division/conference title yearly? No.
I don't buy that. The also rans will always have periods of ups and downs. Teams like Iowa and Purdue are terrible right now, but they have had very good years in the past. Its just how it works with middle of the pack teams. It will always be that way. The only thing that increased parity in the B1G in the last 20 years has been the addition of PSU and Nebraska.
Well I can only admit so much. I will say I think State had the better coach (compared to Michigan) for three years.
I know you think it's 1997 yet but Michigan hasn't won the B1G in almost a decade and only twice since the turn of the century. Stop trying to pretend you are still on par with Ohio State.
States run is over, they had a great couple of classes. They are getting crap these days, OSU took their best recruit last year.
Could be........... New coach and a lot of turnover the last few years. Lots of uncertainty that is for sure. I feel Gary Andersen is going to fit in nice here and actually be an upgrade from BB but there may be a transition period that causes some growing pains.
Well maybe he can bring you that elusive first National Championship. They say the hardest one to get is the first one. Keep at it
I know math is not your strong subject, but that year there were four NC trophies given out, 3 are at Michigan. The coaches retirement trophy is in Lincon At least Michigan won their game and did not need any help from the officals
We will try. :D In the meantime, while we both try to be cool like Ohio State but without cheating, let’s set up the divisions based on geography.
