I'm just getting into bow-hunting and I'm in an archery class right now, but they provide all the supplies you need. I'm looking at purchasing a bow, but I need some opinions on what kind of bow and arrows to get. I'm a 16 year old female and I'm not looking to spend a fortune, but I will def put what is needed into it. Any tips and suggestion are appreciated! Thanks! :)

Im in FL, what is the lightest drawback weight you can have for bow-hunting?

As for the lightest weight you can bowhunt with in your state you will need to check your state game laws ( Some states for example Illinois require it to be a minimum of 40 lbs)

Not sure what it might be for Florida but in Oklahoma it can't be less than 45#

40# in Mass. Do you have a Pro shop near you that can let you try different bow's? I think that would be the way to go!

It is 40# in Florida. But I would strive for 45-50 if you can pull that. I personally like PSE bows for the money. They provide great equipment without breaking the bank. Have you hunted before? Where do you plan to go? I would plan to practice to ensure you're proficient before taking aim at a deer, as they deserve that. I'd check out a local pro shop if you can. Cabelas is also an option to look at bows. You need to have your draw length measured, among other things. Have you taken a hunter safety course? Anyone in your family bowhunt, or hunt in general?

Well go to local pro shop and explain to them that your new to bowhunting and they will hook you up with everything. Just start shooting bows. Shoot as many as you want because you want the bow that feels the best to you. I have no idea what your price range is but there are plenty of cheap bow packages. I got a bear truth 2 off of ebay for 500$ came with everything. I love it but they ALL make good bows now. When you finally make a purchase its all about practice. Once you think you got it down practice some more!! If your going to be hunting out of tree stand. practice from elevated position.. Bowhunting is very fun sport but its a challenge. I hope you enjoy it as much as everyone else on this forum. We are all here to help.

I would look at the Diamond Razor Edge. With a draw weight of 30-60 and adjustable draw length without a bow press it is super easy to setup. It comes fully assembled with everything you need minus the arrows. You can try them at BPS. I am ordering one today for my girlfriend. Can't wait for her to start shooting!

    DON"T DO IT
I bought one for my wife and it has to be one of the loudest bows I have ever heard.
I thought it might have been the accessories and stripped the bow down and it was still vibrating really loud.
theat set up runs about $329 with a cheap rest and sight.
so spend an extra $100-$150 and get something a bit better.

Mission is a great way to go. Very adjustable, very quiet, pretty fast and all around good for the money. Son has the Eliminator II and loves it, and a couple of his friends bought Missions after seeing his. there are numerous varieties right now to fit you, the Maniac being a self adjustable drawlength and weight of pull. Again pretty good stuff, not top of the line, but will get you to see if you're really going to like it. Good luck with everything!!!! Keep us posted on what you get.

Don't pull anymore then you have to. From the sounds of It 40lbs Is the minimum draw weight for your state. That's more then enough to get the job done on whitetails. Best of luck. It's great seeing a young lady have Interest In bowhunting. Hope It works out for you!!

Take a look at Mathews Bows they have a great female collection they've come out with and it may be just what you're looking for.
