As I posted earlier, I am back into trying bowhunting after about 12 years, need some advise on arrows. I know that I want the Blazer vanes but the shafts have advanced so much in that time (like everything else I get outdated). I use to shoot Gold Tip XX-75, and am looking for a carbon or graphite arrow to shoot 100 grain Spitfire points. Please give me your opinions. I have gone to three bow shops and each have a differnt compant that they seem to push. I want a good quality arrow that will match the point that I WILL USE. Thank you in advance. Old but back in the Game again.
I use gold tips and have had no problems I usually shoot each arrow several years before they even begin to have any problems. The expedition version is a very affordable arrow. Post up your setup, and what you plan on shooting such as whitetail or foam. These guys can get you started on the right arrow selection.
Easton, Carbon Express, & Gold Tip all make a good arrow. The Easton Flatlines, and the CX Maxima series are 2 of my favorites. Dan
+1, post your set-up, and I can run your numbers and give you an idea of what arrows would likely work best. I've been shooting these arrows http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true for about 5yrs. now and they're tough and consistent as anything else I've shot, and I've shot some GT's, CX, PSE Radial X-Weaves along the way, but these are still IMHO the best arrow for the $$$. And at .003 straightness they'll shot better than I'll ever shoot. I pick these up raw, then have them done up however I like them best, sometimes 4" vanes straight or strong helical, blazers, whatever. Cheap as they may be, they are GOOD quality, and MADE IN THE USA!!!
Arrows I have shot Easton St Axis for three seasons now and love em. Both in the field and logging hundreds of hours on the 3d range and backyard, these shafts with blazers tune easily, fly great, and deliver amazing penetration on game and targets. I have found that with my experience as well as literally trying over a half a dozen other shafts, that the Axis are very weight consistent and also like broadheads whether mechanical or fixed blade. Hope this helps
I will be hunting Whitetails. My bow is a Mathews FeatherMax, I will be shooting a Whisker Biscuit, 60lbs draw weight and 30" draw length, Spitfire 100 grain. I use a mechinical release. I shoot from a climbing stand at about 20 to 25 feet from the ground most of the time. I just don't know the new arrows, but will use the Blazer vanes. Thanks for any direction on the better choice for arrows
OHbow makes a GREAT argument. Radial X-weaves are great arrows.....for a great price (+/- $6/ea - FLETCHED!). They're good enough to hunt with. They're cheap enough that you won't weep every time you lose or break one, starting out (again). Good luck to you.....and welcome "back"!
