I thought I read they were getting rid of the O-rings.

First impression.....I dont care for the tip. would rather see it the same diameter as the furrel ...the more seamless the better for me. yep...dont like it.

I also thought they were going to get away from the O-rings. Like the replaceable blade on the current heads. Not sure about this one yet.

I heard this was going to be a 2 1/2 inch cut instead of a 2. do you know if thats true?

I believe there's another one called the "Rage Extreme" or something similar with a 2 3/8"-ish cut. Saw it in a magazine a week or two ago.

Looks okay, but I'm still a fan of fixed-blades myself.

I've never, for the life of me understood the reason for these ridiculous cutting diameters on some heads. 2 1/2" is insane and completely unnecessary. I just shot a doe a few days ago with a tiny 1" Slick Trick. She fell within sight 30 seconds later.

I like the direction Rage went with this head though. The chisel tip is far better than the chinsey razor style they were using. However, with such a large cut, they need a long furrel to hide the blades in. This furrel is aluminum and easily bendable. Still not durable enough for me.

If they would make a small, 1 1/2" cut head like the one pictured, I might be interested. Then again, probably not. Slicks kill too well for me.

I'm not quite sure that there will ever be a homerun with these. From what I've seen I wouldn't put one on the end of my arrows. I'm fixed all the way baby although I am looking at the T3 from G5 they seem pretty nice. I'm not sold 100% though.

It looks nice, but I won't make any comments until I see the website updated with actual information on their new line-up.

A cut on contact tip will penetrate better then a chisel point. Dumb move If you ask me.

The down side to that is that when a coc head smacks a bone, it usually damages it. I "personally" think it was a good move. Muzzy's have worked for years with a chisel. I like this chisel tip better than others I have seen.

Pesonally the only mech head I really like is the NAP Bloodrunner. 1-1/8" cut whether it opens or not. 2-1/16 when it does. They fly great also.

I bet they'll make a low KE model that will have a smaller cut.

Comparing a chisel tip on a fixed blade vs a mechanical like the Rage is apples and oranges.

When a 2" mechanical hits bone, nothing is going to help it penetrate.

I only see one benefit, and thats for the makers of this head. They will sell more heads.

I don't see this tip providing a significant improvement on this particular head design.

    Fitz, that was awesome! hahaha

As for the Rage. Switching from a COC head to a chisel point=less penetration. Having a tip that is wider than your ferrule=reduced penetration as well. And I agree with Vito, the makers of the new Rages are the only one's benefitting. Surely the animals being hunted are not.

I've been shooting cut on contact bh's only for 26 years and I've only had one cut on contact bh tip bend, I don't shoot that particular bh anymore. If you do your home work and get a strong good cut on contact tip It won't bend. There Is plenty of cut on contact tipped bh brands out there that will bend but also many that won't. A person has to do their home work and find the good ones. The cut on contact tip that was on the Rage was weak, very weak. Poor design. And as someone else eluded to your tip Is only as strong as the feral Is.
