Alright, the weather it perfect. We just had a front move through last night, temps are down almost ten degrees, but we're having a NW wind (~10-15mph). Usually I don't have many options for this, but after some observations this season, I have a dilema between two. Take a look at the map: Spots 2 and 8 are in contention. Spot 2 I was in once this season, and I know deer are bedding to the W and NW of that spot, but I didn't see much in the line of sign in there a few days ago (did have a spike, a doe, and a fawn come out, though). It's thick in there were just a few shot openings, and a lot of fresh oak tops that are down from a wind storm a month or so ago. Deer generally filter through there either out of the S out the W, and into the "U" in the field. The other spot is number 8. That's my usual early season morning stand, but that thick stand of pines to my west is a KNOWN doe bedding area with the plot to my north. Only hesitation about this stand is that I'm going to be in stand number 7 in the morning, so if I bust anything going out that evening, I could make my morning stand a wash. Right now it's 50/50, and while most of you are probably tired of giving advice to me and helping me make decisions, I'm still going to ask? How would you approach given the information I mentioned?
See my parents house to the SW? I head straight up, then to the east a bit, then straight north until I get to the stand. Same exit exit. Most of it is an old logging road.
Probably 150yds. Remember where that deer was standing in the plot last year when we went to look for my buck? It's about 50yds down over on that end.
I'd have a hard time straying away from KNOWN doe bedding today or tomorrow. I wouldn't stay away based on ruining 7.
