I'm currently in this 2 piece plastic and foam air cast kinda deal along with a sling. It compresses the upper arm and shoulder and wraps around upper body. It is better but doesn't completely keep it from popping out. Have to be super careful and that's apparently not my strong suit which is why drs have commanded to to my back for awhile. Gravity and movement are not my friends at this time.
Dang it man. That is not good to hear. I hope ya get back to normal bud. In the mean time I'll wash and dry the nurse outfit. Tell wife come on over and pick it up Orrrr I could just wear it over for u
That sucks man, hopefully they get ya sorted out soon so you can get better. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Wasn't too bad actually. Thanks! Kiddos were gone to the in laws so the nurse and I had a nice relaxing weekend Swelling is WAY better and regaining some feeling and movement in my hand. HOPING this weeks round of dr apts goes a bit better.
Good to hear! Funny side note, my wife has always told me whether from my arm break, sickness, and even when I had my stroke last year, I get 24 hours of sympathy and empathy from her, after that I need to be a man and deal with it.....LOL!!!
Hey imma take all the extra affection I can get! lol This is really the first time in our almost 10 years together that I've ever been somewhat out of commission. My wife is very much the "caregiver" type of woman and I typically get irritated when she tries to baby me. BUT in this case its been pretty dang nice. lol
Hey guys, thanks for asking. Things are getting better slowly. Shoulder is healing although its 10 degrees out from where it should be I've opted to not re brake and have surgery but to let it heal as is. A lot of atrophy already so I just want to bang out PT and get my arm back. Still a lot of pain but I'll work thru that. Been a bit of a struggle to get out of the slump of both being pissed at myself and feeling sorry for myself for all the cool **** I'm missing out on lol Had to cancel my elk hunt with Greg as well as some other hunts I had tentative plans to do. I still hope to be able to draw a bow by Nov although it will likely be my wifes bow at 45lbs lol In the mean time I've finally come to terms with using the x-gun I bought for the kids. I cringe at the thought but I'm ready to get in the woods. To top it all off I had lost a bunch of weight before the accident and was on track to hit my goal by 9/1. Well I've gained it all back plus some so its time to get back after it. One positive of having to scrap my other fall hunts is I am finally taking the family to hunt my god parents farm in KY the first week of Nov. Been saying for years we would go and I never make the time so the time is now. Really looking forward to that. Just gonna let the kids hunt and spend time with two really great people that mean a ton to me on an amazing farm that I spent a lot of time on growing up. My wife and kids haven't ever been there. Should be a blast.
After racing motocross for the better part of 20 years, I'm all to familiar with injuries. One thing I've learned is not to over due it before you're fully healed. It just makes everything worse. Don't slack on the PT!
Good to hear from you, and hoping for a fast recovery. Sounds to me you got your mind in a positive set, and looking at the big picture. Kentucky sounds like fun!
Damn, sounds rough. Glad to hear you're doing better. I broke my left wrist when I was 6. My wrist started healing back crooked, Dr. realized it on the first checkup. That son of a b*#ch never said a word to anyone, he just grabbed my wrist and bent it like a twig...that hurt worse than when I first broke it. I've never seen my mom so absolutely ready to dismember anyone in my life. I bet that guy's ears are still burning.
lol I broke a collar bone when I was about the same age. 6-7... It had slid past itself at the break and was healing. Our family dr was scared to touch it so it was 2-3 weeks before we could get in to see a specialist in the city. Those SOBs pretty well strapped me down, broke and set the collar bone. Talk about pain!!! Damn near traumatizing lmao
That is the honest to God's truth, Sota. I was messing around with our boys the other day, after ice hockey practice, I rented a pair of skates, first mistake!! We were doing pretty good when I found out the hard way that the edge on my left skate was HORRIBLE!!! I went to turn left and BAM, I landed on my left hip on the ice. OUCH!! It looked like I was in a car wreck, and I don't bruise very easy. I haven't been able to sleep on my left side for almost a month. It is finally getting "better" now. Don't wear rental ice skates!!! Glad you're doing better, TJ!!
Hey good to hear from you! That sounds like a real positive coming out of the situation, but time with the family on the Kentucky farm. Sounds awesome, I'm sure it's something that They never forget! It's crazy how quick muscle breakdown when you don't use it. You'll get it back in no time though. Just curious, are you gonna lose any percentage of use out of the arm? It's a possibility. Hopefully the PT will work most of it out. Currently I'm unable to completely straighten my elbow which Dr says is a pretty common loss from my injury. I don't have enough range of motion in my shoulder yet to know how much it may be affected.
