I bought my wife a cva wolf and I like it. You just need to make sure to completely tear it apart and clean every inch of the gun so it will function properly. I think I paid $200 for the gun and a scope. I killed a deer with it last year and hope she starts shooting more soon!

Yes as long as you clean them everytime you shoot it. If you shoot it once and put it away for a week or so it will take longer to clean. I always disassemble it everytime and clean the barrel until the cloths come out clean. They are a lot of fun to shoot. Oh and the ones that have a speed breach are very convenient when it comes to cleaning them.

I got this one at Wally world and bought a thompson center scope and it does just fine. She likes it because it has a shorter barrel and it is very light.

There's a foam spray out there that's made by CVA, i cant remember the name off the top of my head, but its great. You spray in the barrel...let it set for an hour and then use clean patches. One can last for many cleanings.

Also I use a CVA optima, its a break down barrel....which is much easier to deal with then a bolt action type ML, IMO.

I shoot a TC omega, it was a big step up from my CVA. Best advice I can give is find someone to show you the ropes. Shoot good powder, 777, or Jim Shokeys, it will make clean up easier, and clean it every time you shoot it. I won’t let mine sit more than a day. You may have to shoot it quiet a bit to work up a load it likes. My Omega shoots 90gr of loose 777 with a shockwave the best. Even if your gun says it will shoot a “magnum load,” you may find that it likes lighter loads better. Also, just say no to powerbelts, great on paper, awful on deer.

I have a TC Impact, and I like it pretty well. I have only shot 2 deer with it, but it sure does some damage!

I am looking at getting into muzzleloading for a similar reason and have recently started doing some research. I have heard great things about the CVA Wolf and it looks like a great gun to start with. Gander Mountain has them for $180 without a scope which is fine with me since I would like to try hunting without a scope at least to start with. One thing I am wondering about is how the deer are moving the week after gun season which is when the muzzleloader season starts here in Wisconsin. Anyone from WI have any info about that?

If you're going to get a Muzzleloader...get a real one as in a Flintlock or Percussion Cap...too much fun! I have a .54 Lyman Flintlock(Deerstalker) and had a Great Plains Rifle....every time I pull the trigger it puts a big ole smile on my face...even when I miss! Nothing like shooting a patched round ball!

Hey 400...I missed a nice 8 point on Monday at 1030am on public land...came in to the can call...I shot low!

cva wolf. my dad swears by it and i am making a change from my traditions(crap) Like someone above stated all guns dont like the same ammo. My dads gun throws shockwaves all over the place but loves powerbelt 245s with 100grains of 777 pellets. The expansion and ease of loading on the powerbelts is great! Both of his deer this year with it dropped in their tracks and both shots were over 100 yards one ranged at 112 the other was 102.

x2......I hear all my buddies that have inferior MLs all have said my ML misfired.....guess what, no misfires here! Only one I would recommend with a Nikon Omega scope with BDC reticle.
