Well I've seen it in videos before but never really thought I would experience it. Late season success turns into a great set of rattling antlers for many seasons to come. I couldn't believe definately an experience I will never forget.......
At least you got a couple hero shots before it came off! I shot a buck a few years ago when I shot it had 2 sides when I found him he only had one still on it! Lost blood in the rain and found him a couple hours later!! I never found the other side! Nice buck congrats!!
Easy fix. It would negate the book, that's it.You will see bucks dropping early this year due to such poor condition coming out of the April winter. Same reason bone growth was way down this year.
Doesn't surprise me a bit, I glassed what appeared to be a mature buck that had already dropped in Lake County on New Years day.
Congrats on the buck! Bummer about the antler but you could fix it if you wanted to mount it, or like you said they make great rattling antlers.
Dude that's funny. There was a old episode of severe whitetail disorders when Ralph shoots a nice buck. The deer starts running, falls, gets back up with out its antlers and runs some more and dies. :D
Yep, that's pretty crazy, but happens this time of year, that's for sure. Our deer are holding on strong here, though.
