I was checking my cameras today when all of a sudden a big tom started gobbling. He was only 30 yards from me so i started purring and yelping with my mouth and he kept on answering me. I have never heard a gobbler this late in the year before be so active with his gobbling.

I've been surprised myself a few times on the time of year one was gobbling. I'm not sure if I ever heard one in Summer, but I've heard them in the Fall & Winter already, and of course in the Spring.

I've heard them shock gobble during a thunderstorm in late August. Every time the thunder cracked they'd gobble hard.

I had a turkey wake me up at 5:30 AM about a week ago up in Pittsburg, NH. It surprised me to say the least.
