Thinking of doing Netflix and doing away with my dish HBO. Now I just heard this week that they are going to discontinue DVD's thru the mail to your house? (If I understood the story correctly)

I have a blue ray and should be able to do the streaming thing although I've heard the streaming movies-show choices are very limited compaired to what you can watch on DVD. Experiences with Netflix? Good or bad?

I would say good. They have alot of movies to choose from as far as streaming goes they could have some better ones though. Not sure how often they update the movies but it doesnt seem like they do that much. And I pretty sure you can still get DVDs through the mail if you choose to its just like $1/2 more per month.

With video on demand using an internet ready blu ray device you can get any movie you want at amazon.com or verizon.net (if you have fios). We only use netflix for the "watch instantly" and do not get any dvd's sent to us anymore. Plenty to offer if you like old tv, relatively new tv, (no commercials) and older movies (some new movies). Well worth the $9.

They are wanting to converge to instantly streaming everything, the way I take it. For now they will continue to do dvd's by mail, but their future projections want to eliminate it. Further hurting the P.O. more than it's already hurt its self... but I digress....

They aren't getting rid of DVDs anytime soon.

That is what their goal is though, mainly because it will be so much cheaper and reduce their overhead greatly, plus it will be better for customers.

If they had all movies available through the Wii then I'd be all for it. Instant gratification

Uhhh....the do? You can stream Netflix through you Wii or a PS3.

EDIT - you're correct, not ALL movies are available for streaming. Someday they will be.

I would definitely have netflix if they had all of their movies available for live streaming. Until then, I'll just stream them off the internet on my computer for free.
