I might have the opportunity to set up a new archery range. The space is big enough for 10 lanes at 20 yrds. The problem i have is that the room is 20 ft tall. I plan to put in a 12 foot wall behind the targets, but i need to figure out what i should use as a backstop from the top of the wall to the ceiling? Has any one ever used those archery nets? how well do they work? Can they be used for compound bows? What are some cool ideas you have seen at some other ranges? Also if you were to go to a range, what are some things you would want to see. What would make you want to go back? I am hoping to get things going so i can start a good youth & family program.
I would like to see a 30yrd range. Sounds like you don't have the room for it but I struggle to find a range around my neck of the woods with a 30 yard lane. Practice at 30yds, 20yrds feels like a chip shot.
I've had experience with the nets. They work okay but if they will not stop an arrow from a compound over about 50lbs. They will slow it down considerably though! We used nets with plywood behind and never got arrows to go more then 2 inches into the ply. Arrows are useable after hitting ply as long as you pull them out straight. And on the fun aspect of things you can make shooting games! We have shooting ping pong balls on strings and they bounce around pretty good and its entertaining. Balloons are good to as they react when you hit them. Stuff like that usually is pretty entertaining!
At our shop we do holiday shoots like Christmas, thanksgiving and Halloween. They do very fun themes and interesting targets. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I don't now how much they are, but those electronic dart systems with different animals that pop up on a screen in different scenarios are a nice change. Keep it fun
