I've had my Mathews Drenalin 2007 since...2007. I'm looking to upgrade to a new 2014 bow. I'm a Minnesotan whitetail hunter. From looking at the specs of different 2014 it's hard for me to warrant spending the kind of money they ask for them. But will gladly pay if there is a size able upgrade from my Drenalin. ANY input is greatly appreciated! Looking for upgrades in every aspect of the bow. Quieter, faster (not necessary), more accurate, more consistent, and anything else that has gotten better over the years. Thanks again! I wanna spend some money!
If you are dead set on brand new, I would go with the Chill R. Speed, good size, not too heavy. Personally, I would try to find a Helim or a regular Creed/ Chill. The Helim is super light, and is comparable in speed to the bows from this year. Plus if you do the legwork you can probably get one set up with all the new goodies for about the same price as a brand new bow. I got my Helim used for about $500, and got a decent trade in for my old bow. Check out the MN craigslist. I just saw a 2014 Creed with an SKB I series case, Mathews quiver, spot hogg sight, 6 Easton arrows and a release of some kind for $1200. The extras alone there are worth at least $600. Plus its craigslist so you can haggle a little bit. Good luck, and welcome to the forum from a fellow Minnesotan.
Awsome! Thanks! I'm not set on any brand, I loved my Drenalin but I'm open to trying something new. Has there been major upgrades over the past 7 years in bow performance? I can only find bows reviewed against others in that same year. For example 2013 bows are always compared to 2013 bows. I'd like a comparison of 2014 bows to my 2007 Mathews, just to see what all has improved. I hope that makes sense. THANKS AGAIN!
Basically, I just wanted to know if the 2014 bows are way better than my 2007 Mathews. And if they are, which ones should I look at. Thanks!
Drenalin | Mathews Inc. H?lim | Mathews Inc. Chill R? | Mathews Inc. Creed? | Mathews Inc. Your Drenalin is basically the same size as the creed or the chill R. The chill is going send the exact same arrow downrange 22 fps faster than the Drenalin. They will all probably do it while being quieter and feeling more stable. Best advice I can give is to find a pro shop and just shoot a handful of bows. Try Mathews, hoyt, elite, and anything else they have and choose for yourself.
Go shoot some bows and if you feel it's a big upgrade by all means buy it. If not you save money so you can buy other hunting items.
Went in and tried a couple including the Creed, RPM 360, Elite Energy 35, PSE DNA SP. Sorry, I don't have any pics, it was all buisness for me. I was trying SO hard to sense a difference. Maybe I was trying too hard, but I only noticed small differences. Not enough to warrant spending the money for an upgrade. SO, instead I took the money and pre ordered the Reconyx Ultrafire Recon from Cabelas. Their estimated arrival date is August 1st. I don't think that date is super accurate, but who knows. I just love trail cams, and that new Reconyx looks pretty sweet. It better be for $600. Also if you wanna order it, you gotta do it over the phone. For some reason you can't purchase it online yet. Just google, "Reconyx Ultrafire recon Cabelas" and it will pull up the page. The camera won't come up if you use their search bar, you have to access the page via google. Thanks for all the help you guys. Sorry if my outcome is disappointing. I know I'm excited! Thanks again!
