Starting a new venture... Need a name and logo for my fliers and business cards and whatever marketing handouts I go with.

Will soon be starting a Home Inspection company and could use some suggestions on a name.

Looking for a name that does not make you think "that's a dumb *** name". Not wanting to use my last name or anything.

    As far as the logo...

Who can make a clean logo? I do not have the skills or the programs to do so.

It would be a simple logo, nothing intricate as it needs to fit on a business card etc.

Thinking it would be something like a homes roof outline and the business name that I choose in or below it.

Something along the lines of these examples.

Or even a front view rather than an angle view these have.

Also open to something totally different.

Any suggestions and or help would be much appreciated!

Figure out the name part and I can throw together a few logos for you to look at. Find a couple more logos you like the style of. They don't have to be inspectors either.

    How about Optimum?

You could have a roof line and Optimum below that with home or property inspections below that and the start of a foundation below that.

For the optimum inspection from top to bottom!

When you are deciding on a name make sure the website domain is available before you get too attached.

I'm not very creative when it comes to that kind of stuff, but congrats on the new venture! I'm sure you will enjoy the new job.

If the land is on hills maybe Higher Ground inspection? Or if you are church going and plan on running you business with open Christian views maybe something along those lines.

Everything I have come up with is already taken or the domain is not available. Sorry, I tried for over an hour last night. I have not given up yet.

I can't believe you're asking this crowd. Have you seen the slogan suggestions for the GTG???

    ;)

BTW, if a house has been in a fire.... like 80 years ago, how do you inspect the trusses? Poke at them for integrity? I just noticed this house I'm selling had a fire a long, long time ago.

Thank you for the suggestions and your time guys. I do appreciate it. It takes a lot of thought to get this stuff together, especially when you do not have any past experience trying to start a new company (LLC)

    Christine...

Something like that you would need to have a structural engineer examine it, the rafters and joists (You wouldn't actually have trusses in a home that old) bare an extremely heavy load. Not only do they bare the weight of your roofing system, they also bare the weight of the snow and ice in the winter.

However, if the house is still standing 80 years later with out a sagging ridge line or the exterior walls bulging the damage was most likely very minor or they / you were very lucky the roof system did not fail.

This is the most fried part. The buyer was the one that noticed it. Underneath is all plaster and lath walls so it must have happened a long time ago. (Guessing)

The buyer wants a home inspection, which I don't blame them for... but this house was built in 1882.... it's going to have flaws.

We tossed a dime for each other there... :)

Hard to see much from that photo. I do see the charring but cannot tell the extent.

As I mentioned... If the rafters are the buyers hold up on a deal, a structural engineer is a better expert to have in. As a home inspector will only refer the damages to be inspected by a qualified expert.

Otherwise they or you will be paying for two inspections.
