So I just sold some of my bass fishing stuff that was taking up room and hasn't been out since a tourney like 2 years ago... Im looking to bow hunt some turkeys for the first time, what are some necessities besides a blind and calls? How necessary are decoys?

I've killed many turkeys with no decoys... Get yourself a good box call and practice with it is my advice

Like you mentioned above a blind and good calls are essential if you are bow hunting, as for decoys I have killed birds without them but for me it is more of a confidence thing. I try to think of it as why would a wise old tom come to something he cant see? If he is hung up I like to know he at least has a visual of what he thinks are other turkeys. And when you are bowhunting keep the decoys close.....really close mine are no more then 8 yards outside the blind, hard to miss that close. As for other essentials, pretty much the same as deer gear, binos, comfy seat, and a thermocell for late season is a must! oh and wear black clothes in the blind you will disappear. :ninja:
