Pulled some cards this weekend and got some photos of this guy, the date on the photos are incorrect. I have no history with him and started hunting this property late last fall. It is a very nice deer for the area being hunted. There is little pressure in the area. Large ag fields with large areas of sloughs and little pieces of timber. My questions; What do you think his age is? Possible score? Should I let him go or let one fly if he crosses my path? I just started bow hunting last year and am completely obsessed with it. Have rifled hunted since I was 13 but no comparison. I have never taken a deer with a bow, I know it would be hard for me to let him walk but if he is only a 3 1/2 year old I might be willing to.
I think he is 3 1/2 and right around 126". If you have never shot a deer with a bow I would shoot him if I were you but that is just my opinion. You have to decide what you want to shoot for your first buck and what others think shouldn't matter. Good luck if you decide to hunt him.
He's mature. I come to this conclusion by looking at his antlers (base mass), nose, and belly sag. I would say at least 3.5 possibly older. It would be of value for you to include your location in your profile as the above indictors very from region to region. If he gets your blood flowing take him. Be a excellent first harvest IMO.
I think at the least he is 3.5, maybe 4.5. He is mature by looking at his neck and antlers and would make a great first buck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
My dad shot an eight with big brows and was scored. Reasonably close to the same. His grossed 132 and netted 128. I would consider your deer a shooter and I have been at this for years.
Buck Score scored him at 133 but its not that accurate with the angles you have provided. I would say 125 to 135.
I think he's 4.5 or older. Low neck insertion to his brisket, barrel shaped, rounded rump. I'd say the scoring of around 130-135 sounds about right. There's no reason to pass that buck in my opinion. Would be an awesome first buck.
