Well last one for a while, took out a crap load lowering the gray population before breeding season, my squirrel war will never end. Like I said want a reduction before chipmunk season.
Have felt lately I've been somewhat winning the war. Not so!! Been doing habitat work last few days behind cabin. Sonsabitches were everywhere. You (me) may create a void temporarily but it'll fill right back in soon. Bastards!
I am on the point of a peninsula I have a hard boundary to the north I can limit the population, and it needs to be I live on a 1.12 acre lot my house takes up over a half of that far too many squirels on the property. They are on to me now they flee when they see me, as it should be with yellow tooth rodents.
I just put out a pile of peanut parts out on the rock, if I see zero squirrels the offensive is over. I will be loaning out my traps to a coworker with an urban squirrel problem. I am also giving him a dozen full lead pellets to properly shoot vermin, the fancy plastic tipped ones are too light.
Killed 5, wounded one, missed one yesterday. Have 2 fox squirrels that are residents and a gray showed up yesterday. First one I've seen here in years. They get a pass.
Funny every time I look out and see another one on the rock I think SOB another one, it is like they keep sending them. How many can there be I keep killing and killing and they keep coming.
Have to admit my new favorite and most effective weapon is a 20 gauge with 6 shot, there is zero doubt instant kill, no such thing as over kill on a rodent.
Saw a red in the tree out our window yesterday. Immediately got the box trap set with peanut butter and some peanuts. Waiting for him to screw up. May have been too cold today but a much warmer 10 day forecast. I’ll get the little bugger soon!
Sunday morning, my son got #4 defending the bird feeder. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Now that I have a cease fire I have given aid to a coworker, I provided a trap, bait, technology and ammunition. Like a proud father I was he reported his first kill with a trap this morning.
Well there’s two fewer reds in the neighborhood. Don’t know how many more to go but I’ll keep at it. PB in a box trap. One every three days so far. Some of you all are lucky. No firearms allowed in our neighborhood.
