So on May 23rd I put out a mineral lick. I used the Four 65. In a week I had great results on the trail cam, 5 bucks and 2 does on a small piece of private land. I pulled the pic again a week later(today) and only had 1 of the 5 bucks(wasn't even touching the mineral lick) and now 4 does. So I guess my question is should I start putting out some other good source mixed with a mineral/protein? I don't have permission to plant a tone of clover or anything like that so I will be needing to work all with feeders. I am in Kansas and kinda need some advice. If you are kind enough help me out I appreciate it and if you recommend something a product name would be helpful. I have a cabelas 10 min from my house. Thanks again. I just wanna keep them happy healthy and coming till sep 15th:-)
A lot has changed in a month I would bet.... crop is in the ground, more cover elsewhere, ect. More than likely that bachelor group is holed up somewhere and until you figure it out that's where their going to be most of the summer. Its getting ready to get HOT, so there will be less movement and they will bed close to their main food source. Sure you can put bait out and I'm sure they will hit it at night when they move during cooler temps. If it were me I would simply scout and move cameras according to where they want to be, but not be intrusive. Put the camera where they end up but where they aren't bedding.
