What NC and Bruce said You're peeking. Trust me My dad's favorite archery saying... Q. Do you know what you see when you peek at your shot? A. A bad shot
As the season starts I always take practice shots from my stand, before I leave it! ...pick out a leaf and drill it! Practice every time you leave your stand....until your confidence is 100%. Also, you could intentionally try to simulate the peaking theory....opening your other eye to look at the target and shoot see if it results in the same location! Hope this helps! SilentSling
Michigan Willy, Do you practice with your broadheads? Or fieldpoints? My bh's shoot just a little different than fp's. I shoot my fp's thru the year when practicing, and when the season starts i will switch to bh's and only practice with them. I also fine tune my bow just to the bh's at this time. I shoot right handed, and i'll shoot to the right if i pull off to see the shot. Same grip every time. Pick a spot. Follow through. Also practice with your jacket on, and out of a stand if possible. Good Luck
I would have to agree with bruce on peaking. When you peak you move a lot of things to see mainly the bow. Try shooting and not blinking sounds crazy but most of us blink as we release if you don't blink you can see the shot without needing to peak.
Just sounds like target panic to me, a real pain in the a$$ to get over if so. best thing to do is when the deer presents itself is to# Stop & focus on standing or positioning your body correctly (side on to the deer) take 2 or 3 deep breaths, range the deer, raise & draw the bow taking note of squaring your form correctly, put the sight on it, take another breath then squeeze the trigger without taking the sight off the target. Forget about watching the arrow & just try & trust your practice & equipment.... this sounds like a heap to do in the situation but honestly only takes 6 or 7 seconds & pays off big time with a swift perfect kill shot. taking note of your form & steadying your nervs are the two bigest things you can do.
had the same problem earlier this year have you broadhead tuned your bow mine was 18 in to the right and I found out my rest was 1/4 in to the right
