Hard to say what he will do next. All deer are different. I wouldn't sit the same spot, unless you want the same results. One option is to walk the trail in the evening to see if he is still coming out. He will be use to people on the trail. Maybe if you do a ground hunt again, let him walk past you, then pull back the bow and shoot after he went by. He will be focusing on what's ahead of him.
