In the stand right now with my 8 year old son, shotgun season. Had a doe fawn at 30 yds this deer wasn't more than 35 pounds. She was moving real slow and I could see every rib. Also had fecal matter covering her entire hind quarters. I let Trace take her out (first deer) and climbed down to look closer. Didn't see any injuries but the matted poo on her legs is very thick and she was still leaking more out. Has anyone ran across this before? She was less than half the size of all other fawns around here.

No clue, but sounds like a good candidate to take to the DNR(or for DNR to come to it). Not many communicable diseases between deer and humans but I'd be reluctant to handle it too much.

Could be a few things, internal injuries from a vehicle/jump from height or disease. One I would want DNR to look at for sure, plus you will probably get your tag back

Tags not an issue we get unlimited. But I'd love to know what caused the problem.

Sounds like it might be CWD, I've never seen it in person but I've read about it and heard from folks who've taken deer with it. Good call on putting her outta her misery. Definitely contact the DNR though, they would want to know if this is one of the first cases of CWD in your area

*Actually now that I did a little more reading, CWD generally affects adult deer, and I'm not seeing any mentions of diarrhea

Sounds awful! Good job taking her out though, I'm sure she was living in some kind of pain. Kind of a odd way to get your sons first deer :D ahaha but congrats to him.
