We put out some cameras yesterday and unfortunately two of the four aren't working. (Both are Wildgame). The one I really like is an Eyecon with built in viewer. The other is just a cheaper (it works) camera. We have two Moultries to put out, but I don't have an opinion on it. I was going to purchase a few more of the Eyecon, but reviews say the night pics are terrible. Its our first time using it, so well see. Any recommendations for a camera like it...or opinions on one?
Stealth Cam P12. I bought one for $70 last week and I love it. If you want clearer pictures I'd go with the Stealth Cam G30
Covert anything! I have the Red40, Extreme Red40 and MP8. Daytime pics are stellar and night pics are good.
In a commercial cam I like the Covert red 40, Stealthcam G42, or the Moultrie M880. Good luck! Blessings........Pastorjim
I bought a moultrie premise about a month ago and I love it. I got it for $40 on eBay. I bought a stealth cam p18 last year and I do like it, but in my testing the moultrie out performed it. Faster trigger speeds and clearer pictures. The moultrie premise is actually designed for
Surveillance, but it works great as a game camera. One thing it doesn't have is an option to delay it taking a picture after it has taken one.
I like covert and they have a damaged packaged sale right now on some of there cameras. Great quality pictures. Night and day.
Coverts are solid cameras and take great day pictures, but I haven't been overly impressed with the night pictures. I have an MPE6, MPE8, Red40, Black60, Red40 and an Outlook. None of them take what I would call Stellar IR pictures. I also have an Illuminator(white flash) and it takes some nice night photos. I have two Eyecon Crossfires. I just bought then and have only had once camera pull since I put them out. I would say the night pictures are similar the Coverts. They are acceptable but not exceptional. My opinion is still incomplete on these cams though since they are brand new to me. The best quality night IR cams I've ever ran were Moultrie M-80's. They had a very high powered IR and could really illuminate. The biggest issue is that they blur with movement so they work best over a mineral site or pile of corn. I've also got some Bushnell Trophy cams, but they are a few years old now. They are the least impressive of all the cams I'm running. One thing that does need to be taken into consideration is the batteries that you are using and how you have the camera setup. Personally, I believe you will get your best night pictures if you are running Lithium Ion batteries. They run at a higher voltage and will not have the recovery time like other batteries do between shots. Next would be NiMH rechargeables, then would be Alkaline batteries. I've been running a lot Rayovac's for the last year or so because they are cheap, but I have noticed a marked difference in the quality of the IR night photos. I think I'm going to do some testing with the same camera with Lithiums, Rechargables and Alkaline and see what I come up with.
Also, I'm pretty excited about the USA Trail Cameras that are coming out real soon. They are supposed to have a white flash cam with a wide angle lens that should be pretty sweet. They are not available just yet, but hopefully pretty soon.
