Looking into buying a good video camera and all the accessories to get fully equipped for the 2010 season.

Budget for video equipment: $15,000 for camera and accessories

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I know the XHA1 is widely accepted, but I am interested in memory storage too. and other options for quality footage.
    Thanks guys.

For 15 grand you can get about anything you want, as far as field cameras are concerned.

Maybe I didn't represent the budget clearly enough.:)

$15,000 for camera, spare batteries, lighting equipment, tripod, head attachment, etc.

    It all ads up.

Business, and to reform the hunting media culture in an area that is neglected by many. (can't go into detail yet)

I met you at the MI deer and turkey show 2 years ago with my sister who you thought was my girlfriend.;)

I wore my rut junkie shirt yesterday.:)

$15K should get you everything you need and high quality items at that.

For a head I'd suggest the Manfrotto 501 fluid head with a ball mount and a corresponding tripod and treearm to accomodate it.

To get the best quality I'd suggest sticking with tape if you plan on filming a lot. It's a lot easier to organize your footage on tapes than trying to track what you have on internal memory.

One area that I suggest not skimping on no matter the budget is on audio. Get a good shotgun mic for the camera and good wireless mics for the hunter. Sennheiser is pretty much top-of-the-line in that arena.

With your budgest you can also get yourself a pretty good editing suite for putting all of that footage together. Depending on if you're a Mac guy or a PC guy you could go with either the Adobe CS4 suite for PC or the Final Cut Pro suite for Mac.

Are you planning on putting together a show or trying to catch on with someone?

Thanks for the input. For starting out, I'll be independent, but who knows what the future holds.

If I were you I would PM Todd Pringnitz and see what he thought. His screen name is WKP Todd.

I'm absolutely no expert, but I have researched it a fair amount.

    Camera.........$5000
    Mic's................$1500
    TreeArm.........$600
    Rain Cover....$200
    Tripod............$300
    Tapes............$50
    Batteries........$300
    Case........$200
    Varizoom rocker....$200ish

All of this gets you $9,350.....but this is very rough.

    No idea on Software....guessing $600ish

If you have 15 grand, you might want to incorporate a backup camera or two in there.

Specifics?:) I hope I am not bugging to much, but with all the options out there, I'd like as much input from fellow bowhunters that need the same criteria.

bushnio, bhphotoand video is a great website that I have been on frequently.

ISiman4/OH, a back up camera would be great, and is something that is being considered.
