Hello I am an ameture bow hunter. This is my second year hunting with a bow. I just recently hgot permission to hunt a timber but i need some help with spots to put my stand. The timber I'm hunting is 10 acres and is not real thick. It is an exact rectangle with a corn field on the north side, hay field on the west side, and a weat field on the east side. The fields along the timber are right on the property line, you can walk 10 yards off the line and be in the fields. Inside of the timber there is an old four wheeler trail that runs 20 yards all the way around the property. I attatched a setup of the timber if you would like to take a look at it. The deer hang heavily in the northern part of the timber. There is a heavy trail coming into the timber from the corn field that almost directly goes into the weat field. (I have seen multiple wall hangers feeding in the field). There is also another heavily used path coming into the timber from the hay field. Please give me some advise on where to put my stands. I am new to bow hunting but I grew up trapping and hunting. It's obvious the deer use the four wheeler path because it's less resistance for them. So should I set up stands on the path, or off the trails??? Thank you, Grant In the picture the brown trail is the four wheeler trail, the red lines are the deer trails, and the black lines with lines through them are fences. note on the east side there is mayjoy brush and is nearly impossible to set up a tree stand and get a shot in the field.
Grant welcome to the wonderful world of bowhunting! You will get alot more responses if you post this in the bowhunting section instead of the welcome section! And I don't see your attached picture.
