I have a Mathews Drenalin (28", 70#) I bought this year from my brother. I am a 28" draw on any other bow but with this bad boy it seems a little long. Its sometimes a challenge to stay solid against the wall, I cant have a bent arm and I've had to modify the way I grip the bow or I will hit my armguard every time. I know I need to bump down in draw length but my question is do I bump down to 27.5 or 27? Cams aren't cheap enough for me to buy both and see what works. Any suggestions on how I can determine which to buy? This is my first mathews so I'm not familiar with how they determine the right cam for your draw length. I love the bow it has a super smooth draw cycle and I have great groups from 20-50 yards. So I would like to keep it, although the Heli-m is saweet! Thanks for the help.
Just my opinion but is sound maybe like you form could use a little reworking...probably the grip hand as much as anything. Now to the question...can you shoot other Mathews bows that are at those draw lengths...thats what I would be trying to do before buying one of those cams! Also make sure the string is at the right lenght so its not making the draw a little long.
Ah man... From the title, I thought this was about Auburn football... dang! Is the draw length not adjustable? Where is your anchor point and are you shooting a loop? If so, is your loop too long?
I'd take a few measurements on the bow, and compare it to the one's listed by the manufacturer http://mathewsinc.com/product/drenalin/#specs Compare brace height and axle-to-axle. If they don't match, something could be out of whack. Has the string been replaced?
Mathews come in a little longer than other bows. I used to shoot a 27" jennings but had to go to a 26 on my z7x. But i think i could habe gottwn away witha 26.5
Ask your dealer if he has any cams to try. Otherwise shoot some 27" and 26.5" Mathews bows at his shop and see. Also compare the measured DL of your bow to the others. I found the perfect DL for me and marked an arrow at the berger hole (rest mounting bolt) to find correct new bow's DL.
I plan to have to string replaced after the season is over. I don't believe its my form I've been shooting a bow for 25 years, I'm definately no expert but have never encountered this issue before untill I got this, my first Mathews. There are no mathews dealers around here so shooting another mathews with other cams or having other cams installed isnt possible thats why I posted the thread. Thanks everyone for the inputs, I'll definately use the advice. I have heard that Mathews draw lengths tend to be a little longer than other manufacturers. I e-mailed Mathews over a week ago and they havent responded yet so we'll see what they have to say. I'll replace the string and see if that helps before I order a new cam. Thanks again and Merry Christmas
Yup Axle to Axle was long by 3/8" and brace height was -1/4" definately time for a new string. At least I can now put a winners choice on this bad boy! Still think the cam is long though because my bro I got it from is 5" taller than me. I believe when we started out shooting our first Bear Whitetails 25 years ago he had an inch longer draw length than me. He of course doesnt remember. Thanks again everyone
Is rather have a worn out string than an incorrect draw length. Any way you can have a picture taken at full draw? That will tell all. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
