Hello. I am needing to purchase some new arrows this year and need some help. I was shooting a model by Carbo Express which is no longer made. They were 400's and 8.1 gpi. I am shooting a Bear bow with a whisker biscuit and my draw weigh is around 64 lbs. For broad heads, I am using 100 grain Spitfires. I am trying to figure out not only what brand I should select but also the weight so I don't compromise my penetration and tight shot groups. A couple people have recommended going to a 340, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?
At a 64 lb draw weight and without knowing your draw length, the 400's sound good to me using a 100 grain broadhead. I know a lot of guys around here are shooting the Gold Tips arrows this year. They seem to be at a good price and might even be sold on this website. Look at the "Shop" tab up top.
340 will be over spined IMHO. If you ran with Goldtips (5575) you would be approx. the same weight, as the Goldtips are 8.2 GPI. There are several other brands out there to choose from, it mostly depends on what your budget is and what your desired finished weight is.
Need to know your arrow length. You can click on my link and check Harvest time archery out. There is also a arrow size chart you can look at.
