I am going with the ascent myself. My idea was to remove one pins leaving just two pins. One fixed with one floater!

You can get a custom one like that , you can also add a dovetail too . Just check out the custom shop on their website.

To me after years of using a single pin, 3 pins is clutter.

I love the vertical pins because the sight picture is so much more clear. I have been using trophy ridge fire wire v3. I have really enjoyed the site set 20, 30, 40. I don't shoot past 30 in the woods, and rarely get a shot opportunity of 25+. it is my goal this next year to increase that. im not sure hunting here in VA an adjustable site would benefit me more than a fixed pin site. the shots are normally quicker, and an adjustable site set at 20-25 depending would take care of most of the shot opportunities nut I just don't like the idea of having one pin.

I have been throwing the adjustable/fixed ideas for a while... I LOVE THE VERTICAL PINS, but my choice are very limited... but I want more than one pin. The g5 XR2 sight for me is very appealing... one fixed pin, and the an adjustable pin but its expensive at $200. I have also looked at the ascent sites and think that a 2 pin site would be a good option, especially with the 6" dove tail.

To me, from reading some of your post in this thread you may be drawn to the ascent sight...get it and don't look back. I don't have experience with either but the ablilty to customize your site with .10 pins to me is great. At 40 yards those .19 kind of suck.

Im going to give my fire wire another year and go from there, I just got it and I do like it, but its not the durable site I want to use for the next 10 years or so on the next few bows I get.

Well the 3 pin HHA sight has been discontinued. Ive been checking around and can't find it anywhere. I would pick up the 3 pin version with .10 pins and the speed dial if I can find it.

Im also curious to see what kind of sights come out at the ATA show next week. Maybe something that I will want to pick up.

Bow hunter superstore sells just the HHA slider and dial base. And you can find the 3 pin head on AT

I love my HHA. Great customer service, lifetime warranty! Had my pin break (my fault too) sent it in and had it back three days later, no questions asked. I don't use the predetermined tapes tho. Just feel better making the marks myself

That could work, the hard part is finding the right head now. Thanks for your help with this. :tu:

Thats awesome, I remember you shooting one at the R100. (which we need to do again) If I can get the head I want that will probably be the sight I will use. like having the dial back closer to me rather than up by the head of the sight.

Axcel Vision HD-Pro Sight in either 5 or 7 Pins. As for pin size I shoot the .010 size but you can get them in .019 if you have bad eyes. I love my sight and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's tough and reliable.

Not sure how easy it is to remove the pins from that sight. If it isn't that bad I would do it.

I love this sight, it's also available in a 3-pin.
Gear Review: CBE TEK Hybrid | Bowhunting.com Blog

No offense to anyone that shoots a single pin, but for the life of me, (outside of a very small percentage of situations) I cannot understand the thought process behind having a single pin. I can't count how many time sin the last few years I've had a hunter with a single pin that had to let down at full draw to adjust his sight because a bull elk, antelope or mule deer moved. In none of those cases was the animal shot. We had a bull come in 25 yards and then he chased a cow to 52 before the hunter could shoot. The guy let down to adjust his sight and it was game over. Another time we had an antelope buck at 60 yards, when I popped the decoy up the buck came full speed to 20 yards, the gun held 6" below the animal and shot over his back. That's just a couple of cases, in both instances if the hunter would have had a multi-pin sight, the animal would probably be dead. Ever have a deer at 15 yards that sees or smells something and bounces out to 40? I don't want to have to guess where I need to hold my pin… I want to know.

Amen^^ thats whats cool about 3 pin sliders, you get the best of both worlds. For us midwest hunters, 40yds is about the furthest shot we will get and or take, so for situations like that it would be an easy adjustment, just pick a different pin. But for practicing, 3d, or open terrain hunting the extra distance capability is still there. Thats why the Black Gold Ascent 3 pin with rear facing sight tape is probably my next sight!! The CBE Tek Hybrid is real nice, but the pins on the $100 cheaper Black gold are so much brighter.

Yeah some very good points, I've looked at all those sight and thought about ascent but I have been looking hard at the HHA and the I like being able to have the dial closer to me and also the option of switching over to a single pin if I want by just buying another head and not a whole new sight.

Not trying to start a fight, just a friendly discussion. But I wonder how many animals have been missed because the guy picked the wrong pin in the heat of the moment? We may never know for sure, just that the arrow went high/low. I did it years ago before I switched to a single pin and I only had 4 pins. I couldn't imagine drawing back on a huge buck or worse yet a huge bugling bull elk and looking at a cluster of pins trying to decide which pin I need to pick while trying to keep my heart in my chest! And it would be interesting to know how many clean hits were made because a guy was able to dial in 55 yards and hold that one pin right where he wanted to hit? We'll never know the answer to that one either.
I personally also like the sight picture of one vertical pin. I can see the entire animal until that one pin starts to ease up to the chest.
You've got a legitimate gripe with single pin sliders and to me thats their only draw back. For me, I'll take the good over the potential bad.

What is the point to a three pin adjustable site? If your still adjusting the site wouldn't the other pins only be good for one set distance?

I guess you could have it set so that when the middle pin is on 30y the lower is 20y and the upper is 40y, but if your hunting Elk and you adjust the middle pin to 50y the lower is not going to be accurate 40y nor the upper at 60y? Am I right? I guess it also depends on how fast your bow is.
I thought about getting one but couldn't figure that part out.

If pin brightness is a concern Black Gold all the way...if that isn't a factor both in many ways are even.

I'm not a hundred percent on that, I know that you set up the top pin like its a single pin and then you set up the 30 and 40, what I'm not sure of is if I dial it out to say 50 does it make the other two 60 and 70? That's something I need to find out.

That's not really a factor that I'm worried about, I'm leaning towards HHA now.
