There are tons out there...Truglo, Cobra, G5, Apex, etc... I shoot a truglo 3-pin, but there are so many out there that I could not tell you what is the "best". I've only ever shot from a truglo and a G5. Maybe read up on some reviews, or better yet, go to a local archery shop and try to shoot bows with a few different sights if possible. Hopefully someone will be able to give you some 1st-hand comparisons of a few. Good luck, have fun.

I shoot the G5 Optix SE and personally I love it, it is also very easy to adjust (which might help you since your new to bowhunting), it has three pins. It also is very lite and comes in camo or black. But it is all up too you just go out and look at them all!!

i have a G5 ME which I like, its one its second bow right now... if I were to replace it I'd probably get the Spott Hogg Hunter Hogg-It or the Axcel Amortech... but the new Octane NXS looks pretty nice also... truthfully, hard to go wrong with any of the top shelf sites these days...

I would hold off on buying a sight until after archery season, because that's when all the great new gear for 2010 will be coming out. If you can just make it one season shooting open-sights, you'll be sure to find a hot new sight after the 2010's are unveiled. In the meantime, just make a home-made pin bracket out of an old cooking skillet and some allthread. It'll do you like a dinner.

I've been shooting with no sights for 30 years, and I am a one-man whitetail extermination team.

Here is what I would look for...

100% metal construction. No plastic parts. 3-5 BRIGHT fiber optic pins. Buy something for how it is made, not how "cool" it looks.

Many companies have some very nice sights to pick from. Good luck!

I picked up the new Octane sight and have loved it so far. I've only shot it in 3D but will be hunting with it this year. I had a TruGlo before and had no complaints about it really. I switched because I wanted to move from 3 pins to 5 and wanted to be able to micro adjust my pins. There are many great sights out there though and you'll just have to find what you like the best. Good luck!

I shoot the extreme 4 pin sight and love it, but I have a cousin the shoots a HHA 1 pin sight and I have to say it is probably the coolest sight I've seen. It's is just one pin, but there is a turn on the side that raises and lowers the pin and it has the different yardages next to the pin. So if you are shooting a 45 yard shot you turn the pin to 45yds and it raises to the correct height for that distance. It goes from 20 to 60. Pretty cool I thought. I sighted it in with him and before we put the correct yardage tape on the side we had to sight it in at 20yds and at 60. That was pretty interesting, we lost 1 arrow, but once we got the 60yd distance we marked where the 20 was and where the 60 was and he had like 40 tapes to chose from, but we found the one that matched those distances and all the rest were set. now it he has a 37 yd shot he can put it right to 37 and he is right on. No guessing up or down with your pin.

Make sure that you check out vital bow gear. I have been using them for the past 4 years and love them. Just check them out,

I currently have a Spott Hogg sight with different size pins. I prefer the .10 for the 40 & 50 and the .19 for the 20 & 30....I currently have a .29 and it works well for hunting, but may go smaller for 3-D

Many good sights out there..look for durable pins and ease of adjustment. That is the only complaint on my sight, that the pins and level axis could be better. You have to loosen one, and tighten the other for it to move and then be secure...not the most friendly but when its set it will not move.

Excellent info here, recently picked up an Axtel Armortech and it appears to be a quality sight, it's for a friend so I've not had any experience putting it through the ringer yet. Currently I shoot a Spot-Hogg and really like it as well.

I couldn't agree with buckeye more.

I searched out quality sights before buying a bow several years ago. I bought a Viper Predator Pro MT before buying a bow. I now own 4 Viper sights, 2 Pro MT's and 2 Predator 2000's. Top quality and price beats many.

Check out a full gamut of sights and then decide for yourself.

Agreed, and for the best bang for the buck, I'm sold on Sword Sights. An Apex Hunter with your choice of pin colors and sizes can be had for under $70, and is every bit as good as the sights I've paid $100 for in the past.

i was lookin around at the viper and sword sights based on some of the comments here... the vipers seem really well built, only thing I don't like about 'em is that the pins don't "seem" like they are micro adjustable, something I rather like about my g5 (and many other sights)... can't tell one way or the other on the sword sights... if I'm wrong about the micro-adjust pins on them they are pretty well bargains and worthy of a serious look...

anyone wanna chime in about that feature???

Sword does NOT have micro adjustable pins.It does have a great dovetail system for vertical and horizontal adjustments that has etched marks for easy adjustment.I wish they had micro adjustment BUT that does add weight and cost and it really isn't that big of a deal for me.

I have a Viper Micro Tune as well and like the others I am very happy with it. It will really come down to what you are looking for. Single pin, multiple pin, moveable sight, fixed bracket, dovetail bracket, etc. There are so many options. You have to figure out what are the most important to you and there will still likely be a lot of good options to choose from.

im new to bowhunting too, but i still have good experience with bow sights, the # 1 thing when geting a sight is to "stay away from plastic!!!"Aluminum is your best bet... i just got a new diamond edge and it came with a sucky plastic cobra. every time i try to move the pins it leaves an hole on the plastic and the pin trys to slip back in its original place. My dad has a tru-glo "tru-sight xtream" and my brother has a "g5 xr" with a hybrid pin and he out shoots me and my dad by far... but i am swiching to a tru-glo like my dad in one to two weeks. but my bros. g5 xr (in my opinion) is the best sight on the market.
