Helped my cousin this past weekend plant a 4/10 acre kill plot and there was a weed that grew in groups that were over taking a section of the plot. Does anyone know what type it may be? [IMG]

We planted beans in the plot and they're round-up ready. They'll die from round-up, we would just like to identify exactly what it is.

It does kinda look like clover but it's hard to tell.

    I believe that's Palmer Amaranth.

It does kind of resemble Palmer Amaranth. Only thing is that it's max 3" tall and very dense.

    Anyone else with any input?

Palmer amaranth would likely be huge; much more than 3" unless it emerged yesterday.

Tough telling difference between waterhemp, pigweed and other pigweed species from a picture. Was it hairy?

When I could only see the thumbnails I was thinking a patch of Korean lespedeza....then I zoomed in and realized it was very much not lezpedeza.

I'm not sold on the Palmer amaranth or pigweed theories. I'll render myself useless and say I don't know what kind of weed that is. I am curious tho...

Just saying that's what it looks like to me. I had no idea when it emerged but the plot looked as though it had been worked not that long back and rained on. The emergence pattern looks like it could be from the seed heads on Amaranth and it's just fresh seedling growth. The larger plant looks like the same plant just came up quicker.

I'm so far away from that state it could be a lot of things I've never even heard of for that matter.

Oh no definitely not saying you're wrong! I'll find out tomorrow. We're having weed tour at work and all the big shot weed scientists will be here.

Ha not my guess on what the weed was it was posted above and asking if that is what it is.

The consensus I got is it is just a pigweed, no need to worry. Hard to tell what all the smaller plants are though; looks like a mix.

Wish I had a better picture of the actual leaf on this plant.
