Basically over the past two months I've been toying around with the idea of a new bow I currently shoot a pse deer hunter I bought six years ago when I began bow hunting and I want something smoother and faster and lighter same thing everyone wants im assuming. I have been looking at used switchback xts but not sure if im gonna be happy considering what the new highend bows are shooting. I will start about myself I hunt alot of nj pa and ny so one weekend I can be working farmland or posting up in a stand. After shooting my pse so long pretty much any bow feels good hoyt and mathews. The hoyts feel more comfortable but mathews shoot like a dream. Was considering the hoyt rampage xt but read many reviews about it being loud and have alot of vibration. Which brings me to my questions should I contuine to seek for a sbxt? is there anything that can be done to the hoyt rampage xt tht would help make this bow shoot like a higherend hoyt or should I just save and purchase a new Z7 in the spring?

Can't go wrong with the Z7. I've killed numerous deer with one myself. I have just purchased as a second bow a diamond deadeye. It's not the Z7 but it's a good bow. I would recommend either. The Diamond is on sale at Eagle Archery with their 10% off coupon for 539.00. Hell of a bow for that price.

Don't limit yourself. Be sure to shoot as many different bows from as many different manufacturers as you can; Elite, Martin, Bear, PSE... I'd suggest a trip to Lancaster Archery since you're in that neighborhood. They should have a ton of different bows you can shoot.

yup don't forget bow tech, i shot a youth Browning bow until 2009 (when i turned 15) now i shot a bowtech carnivore and i couldn't be happier, however i want more speed more of a higher end bow so I'm thinkingg of buying an invasion by bow tech or their new bow thats coming out in like 5 days

I'm extremely happy with my Mathews Z7 xtreme. If I had to do it again, I'd buy it again. Even with all the new bows on the market. That said, I'm a big fan of hoyt bows as well, even the rampage xt. There's a lot of things you can do to quiet them down with string stops and dampers. A guy at work put something on his old hoyt and said it's whisper quiet now.

When I was buying my z7x another kid was buying a rampage xt at the same time. He got his set up first and went in to shoot, 10 minutes later he walked out with a robin hood.

Shoot as many as you can. I like the specs on the new bow madness xs.

Other than just buying a z7, my best piece of advice is to set criteria you want in a bow... speed range, axle to axle length, brace height... then shoot everything that fits those specs. You never know what bow you will like the best.

You should try a PSE Brute. They shoot really well and come with the "HUSH" kit and Vibracheck so they are very smooth and quiet. I currently own a 2011 PSE Vendetta and 2009 PSE Brute and to be honest I shoot the Brute more than the Vendetta which costs nearly $300 more. There good bows and won't break your pocket. You should be able to get one ready to shoot for around $500.

Just curious about places letting people shoot numerous bows. I bought my bow used on ebay and had it set up for me, without ever shooting any bows. Do the shops set the bows up specifically for you if you're shooting to see what you like? Seems like it would take a TON of time to set draw length and weight on all the different bows, depending on how many bows you want to try out.

I shoot a Z7 and love it!!! Can't go wrong with the SBXT either. If I were to purchase a new 2012 it will be either a Hoyt or a PSE. I'm just not feeling anything Mathews has offered since the original Z.

I'd give the Ross Crave a tryout as well. According to the video review right here at this sight it's very fast and extremely accurate. Unfortunately for me the nearest Ross dealer is a whole state away from where I live or I would be able to give a more personal opinion on this bow.

Don't forget about the new Heli-M by Mathews that came out. From what I have seen and read about them is that its like the Z7 extreme but has some tweaks done to make it better. It's fricken 3.5 pounds. Check out the video that Todd and Justin made. Seems Mathews did a lot to make this their best bow for 2012! Oh in case you're all wondering I shoot a PSE and hopefully going to be shooting a Mission next year so I'm not too bias towards the Mathews.

Shoot what is comfortable and fits you. Also find something in your price range. It seems everyone makes a great bow these days. It's just what you want out of a bow.

Thats the first I have heard anyone say the Rampage XT is loud and vibrates on the shot. Go shoot one. I bet you wont think this. I too shoot a PSE deer hunter but, it has big cams and a different string and cable system than any I have ever seen. Its actually a pretty smooth bow. Just seems to have no valley and the back wall is a bit spungy. The let off sucks too but, I can't complain for as little as I have in it and I know it will kill a deer.

Go shoot one and see what you think. Actually go shoot every new bow you can get your hands on after all, the 2012's are out now.

I got the bear carnage this year after shooting the bear truth for the past couple of years and love it just changed the draw weight and length so dont no the current fps, but the bow is super smooth with very little hand shock at all. Bear makes great products and would recommend this bow to anybody. I have shoot the z7, reezan, and this bow is very comparable to them just without the mathews name!!!!!!! CHECK OUT THE CARNAGE GOOD LUCK

A GOOD pro shop will . Everytime I go to my local shop and check out new bows they almost FORCE me to shoot new bows (they don't have to twist my arm lol)
From my experience I would NOT consider a Dead Eye no offense but the one I owned was issue ridden it's nothing more than a single cam Destroyer 340 plain and simple I won't waste the space to expound cause long story.
I'd check out Alpine they make some incredible bows every bit as good as the Z7 at the fraction of the price.
Athens, Martin, Bear, PSE, Alpine are GREAT bow comp's that make some great bows along with G5 Prime bows (if ya wanna drop a 1K on a bow) that are ALL just as capable (if not more so) as a Z7, Z7s a good bow but not for everyone (like ALOT of bows) don't feel like ya have to drop a TON of coin to get a great bow it's harder to pick up a bad one than a great one, that's easy besides all the modern compounds can out shot the shooter any day WE'RE the weak link. do ALOT of shooting a let the bow pick you make a list of likes/dislikes and go from there, good luck have fun
