Okay so I'm 15 and nobody in my family hunts or knows anything about hunting so I reasearch and do everything myself which I like but I'm looking for suggestions on my hunting property. (its my first year on this property) What I'm asking for is suggestions on food plot placement. There are 2 ponds on this property and they are the only source of water around for 5 miles. If you comment on the picture please refer to the plot placement on the east side of the picture or the west side. Any questions private message me or post on the thread, I will check frequently.

Check your prevailing wind and set it up near the water source

The boundaries are basically the outline of the woods and the big green field on the north side of the picture, and the prevailing winds blow from the east side of the picture to west side. Also its about 10.5 acres.

    Where in Ohio are you?

Water may or may not be as important based on the temps and the quality of forage.

Hunt the corners and the wind.

Have more than one set, for days when the wind is blowing from a none prevailing direction. You also want more the one set so that you can move around and not burn one out.

Use cameras to find out where they are bedding and traveling.

Use the best scent control you can afford.

Lastly go to the local bow shop, and ask the pro to find you a mentor. The will be lots of grizzled old farts like me who would be honored to help a young hunter like you.

    Blessing on your hunt

I wouldn't bother with the food plots being such a small piece. It looks like there is enough food around there for the number of deer that are going to call that woods home.. Save your money and time and hunt the sign that's there.

I would do at least one plot even if the land is only 10ac something highly palatable and desirable like alfalfa or clover you won't have to plant either one every year just mow it a few times once it's established.
Alfalfa is a little harder to start so I would try Durana clover in that skinny section between the woods and pond.. If you don't want to or can't do plots this year put a broadcast feeder right in the middle of the property..

I would check out that fence row that comes in from the top of photo the deer will use it as a travel corridor.

I'm live in Champaign county but this property is located in Logan county. Thanks for the suggestion!
