I am currently gathering info for my next gear review and am looking for some input. I will be comparing binocular harnesses from some of the bigger companies. S4 Gear, KUIU, Sitka, Crooked Horn, and FHF Gear. I will be grading the harnesses on 5 factors; 1. Weight 2. Ease of use 3. Protection 4. Bounce (or lack thereof) 5. Overall construction and price Is there any bases anyone else would like to see covered? Thanks for any input.
I had the Sitka but I definitely did not like it. But that's my personal preference. I hated having them covered all the time. I went back to my crooked horn. It sucks having by binocs exposed to elements but I use vortex optics so if anything ever happened I'm covered. My buddy has an s4 system and I've messed with it and I think it was more comfortable but I didn't do a side by side comparison Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't mind the bino bivy, but it definitely needs the right bino for it to work right. I went to a full coverage harness this year, FHF Gear, because I upgraded to some high end glass. So far I like the hell out of it
I sold my Sika bivy really quick, same reason ...didn't like the full coverage. I ended up buying a badlands harness, honestly the only reason I picked it out was it was the only oneavailable at a store I was in and I needed one. It was cheap enough that if it didn't work out I would move on fast. That was like three seasons ago, since then I used the hell out of it and it's been fine. No frills or bells or whistles.
I want a harness that will hold the binocs below my boobs instead of on top of them. :D I'm getting used to working around this issue.... but it is annoying.
Just the strap...I lashed the top one piece lens cover to the harness...so I only keep the top covered..keep snow and rain out. Just one less thing to open and close...
