So i have an acre maybe acre and half to hunt, there is a gravel road in the front on the other side is corn and the side im hunting is surrounded by corn. Just wondering how i should hunt this, i dont really know what the deer are doing yet. I dont know if i should hunt in the wood or along the edge. There seems to be plenty of deer movement going through there, but it is thick as **** and i mean thick...any advice would be gratefull. i will make sure to be out there when they are pulling corn. thanks!
Don't have a lot of room with an acre. I would think that you'd basically be hunting the woods if you're on the edge. It depends on a few things. Do you have trails that come in and out of the fields into the small patch of woods? If so I'd set up on those just inside the woods.
There is a couple spots where they are coming in and out but don,t seem to be used to heavily like the other trails are. I know its not very big and i dont plan on hunting it after the corn is out, i have got one decent 8 pointer on my trail cam but thats it, not even a doe. He had been in there 5 different days, for the 2 weeks i had my trail camera set up. Correct me if im wrong but i think i have a good chance of seeing a monster in there, since all the deer seem to be roaming around corn feilds? correct?
Definitely have a chance just about anywhere. What I was meaning, is you don't have a lot of choice when it comes to stand placement on 1 acre. Pick a spot that looks good and go with it, I only mentioned the field entrance/exit because likely they'll be coming in and out of that field. Are there big woods near this acre? Is the acre a natural choke point? What time of day are the photos you're getting? Do you think deer are bedding down in there, or just passing through?
This is the only the timber beside small creek lines for probably 3 miles. and the photos i was getting were mid day, and i dont think there bedding there or least i have not seen any beds yet. I think if anything there are just random deer passing through
They're probably bedding in the fields right now then, but once the corn comes out, that is likely to change. Either way, it's awesome that you have daytime pics. Get out there and get it done!
