never used aerial maps but my buddy just secured the lease on the land we hunt and we are thinking of starting a club and try to make things better by bringing the right folks in and getting the wrong ones out!

however for the past few days a 2 men who live and have cattle on leased land adjacent have intruded on my buddy's hunt b/c they been in the woods on our lease arguing that the owner/ guy we lease from is cutting timber off him and that the property lines arent correct.

I told my buddy to have the person to contact the owners legal council and until the issue was absolved that him and the other land owner stay off of our lease and to quit baiting our property or they would be reported to the va game warden and charged for trespassing b/c we have our lease land posted and we are going to hunt this year undisturbed!

My question is what kind of aerial photos can i get that reflects property lines and do any of you recommend a independent source?

i'd appreciate any help with this thanks!

You can get plot lines that show the property lines at a courthouse. It may be tricky to figure out whos is whos tho.

depending on where you are, most county websites have plot/property information down to the detail. Check that out then go to courthouse route....

You can get aerial photos with approximate property lines from most county audior or assessor's offices. I say approximate because that is what they are. They are not intended to be used for legal property disputes. The only way that your dispute will be resolved is with a survey by a licensed professional. They are sometimes expensive, but still cheaper and faster than dealing with lawyers. I do this for a living in Iowa and see this kind of dispute all the time. Good Luck!

What I found can work, roughly, is to go to the assessor's office online... look up "your county, state GIS". I think there is a topo feature also where you can see the lines and ownership.

That's what I do, but the lines aren't always exact.
