Connected to a doe this morning. Donkey kicked and ran off with a bum front leg. Looked mortally wounded and there is decent blood with a couple misty spotsFollowed the trail a little bit and backed out. I’m no pro, hence the results, target panic. What do you think? there were some heavier spots of blood than the photo I took but not by much arrow does not smell like guts but the arrow itself didnt look promising. The blood trail was an encouragement though
Congrats, do you know where you hit it? Give it atleast an hr. IMO Sent from my SM-A037U using Tapatalk
Blood looks good, Blood trail you said was also good. Sounds like a good shot. Still give it at 30 minutes and I would pick up from where you seem last Blood. You got TP to mark your blood spots ? Sent from my SM-A037U using Tapatalk
Looks like the arrow is coated in fat? If so I am guessing brisket… Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I shot a doe last night, assuming low sternum/brisket hit. She will survive. Arrow covered in tallow and blood. Trail was great and slowly petered out.
I would second this. Not much blood on arrow and from pic looks like blood is dripping more than spraying.
I was able to track her into a thicket and get a second arrow in her. I had spined her. She ran .2 miles. I will add pics to prove I am a terrible shot and to clarify here soon.
Good deal! Your not a terrible shot. Adrenaline makes us rush. Fresh back straps after all your hard work.
For the record. I executed a poor shot, I did not take a poor shot. Broadside at 25 yards, I am just a chump. anyway, the spine was totally destroyed and separated. I have no idea how it ran as far as it did. I guess spine but not spinal cord was damaged. 1mm lower and the tracking would have been unnecessary.
I am a good shot in the back yard. In the stand, I still have trouble control my excitement. I am better for the experience and will do better next time.
Too bad it was in some of the best meat, great you got her. CONGRATS. Question, is your target practice ground level and hunting out of a tree? If so get out to a stand you can practice from. Then Repeat after me....bend at the waist when shooting.
Another thought This doe busted me in the tree before I took my shot. I stay perfectly still and she stared straight at me and bobbed her head up and down for a full minute or more. Then went back to walking broadside. Probably was some string jump involved.
