I and my friends all hunt a certain state park some of us for almost 30yrs. As of late, a new park ranger has taken over. Since then, he has closed the interior of this park saying that the road system is to fucked up for people to be in the interior. This is not the case. I used these roads in the past with my front wheel drive vehicle. Also, there is a state memorial in this park that is cut off to people wishing to visit. What can I do to get back into our hunting spots and can we use the state memorial as a crutch to get back in?
Sad situation but not all will use FWD. Probably this declaration is to keep from pulling out cars that get stuck.
First ask what the plan and time line to fix and reopen. Depending on the answer, everyone has a boss go over his head to find out who actually knows what. Is the interior completely closed or closed to vehicals only? If you do not like the answers, well, start a scorched earth approach and tell them that's what will need to be done, ie...contacting all media you can with the best narrative you can muster, to put public opinion at their door step.
I just saw this again, wondering if any contact was made. This has me thinking because there has been an issue in NYS parks as far as swimming goes this summer. Places shut down due to listera in early summer now algae blooms. One park with it's pools literally built in a free fliowing stream was closed do to too much water. Thay all have to hire life gaurds. In a state giving it's cash to illegals and hemorrhaging it's tax base to "fleeing", I question the reality in these closings. I'd love to see independent testing done. Could there be a personal agenda from this ranger against hunters? One he feels safe against oversite to initiate? Is there a state financial move to cut staff? Are drones illegal to fly? For a drone view of the road system could be used to prove or disprove his stance.
