I live in a small town in northern arkansas and it is just now getting to mid 40's at night and 70's or so during the day but i have been getting lots of deer pictures but they are all does and im pretty sure its just the same pack of 4-5 does coming to my hunting spot. They come just about every day but i havnt seen or got a single pic of and bucks what so ever..... so do i wait for later in the season possibly rut and hope the does bring in the bucks or do i need to do something now to bring them in or what should i do?? Any advice is much appreciated thanks!!! FYI Also i have a pipe feeder where i hunt with corn and milo mix which is what the does feed on everyday. i aslo have a sugar beat block in the ground that is starting to get more attention.
If you don't want to shoot a doe,and it sounds like you don't,just wait. The boys will find the girls.
I have one question for you, we some times forget is there water near by if so then I would wait to see the bucks may already be there just out of the pictures
I do want to shoot one and get some meat in the freezer but I don't want run them off before a buck shows up and yes there is a pond 150yards from where I am hunting it's in the middle of a field which I can see part of it from my stand but still not any bucks yet
You wont run them off if you tag a doe. go shoot one then leave the spot alone for a week or two they will come back and bring the bucks with them
Hopefully this helps you make your decision. I've had my trail cams out since August. Your story could've been mine. All does, no bucks. No sign of one. nothing. I went out today, poured a little buck jam and within 30 minutes of my sit I had my 3 does come in on me. 2 decent does that are easily ready for mating. 1 smaller sized fawn. These are the same 3 does that I always see. I see them so often that I could've taken all 3 of them at one time or another this season. But I've already filled my doe tag. While I'm sitting in my stand this morning, I'm checking my trail cam pics for the last 2 weeks. What's that? Is that a buck on camera? It is!. He came in to camera view at 6:30am yesterday, 1 hour after the does came into camera view. So I've had my cameras out for the better part of 2 months and no sign of a buck. As of yesterday, he's there. So now I'm excited. So there I am sitting in my stand, and an hour after those 3 does left the area he comes in from the other direction. Winded me, busted me. Didn't blow or anything, but he caught my wind and just slowly walked away and didn't come into the shooting lane. He's not a huge buck, but like the others said.....Love is a powerful thing. He's gonna find him a woman. So personally, I've made my mind up. I'm waiting, I'll keep feeding and see if I can draw some more in. I'd pass on this buck personally, but I'll definitely let one of my sons take him. Hope this helps you with your decision. Here's the photos an hour apart. This is the first sighting ever of a buck on this property. View attachment 38243 View attachment 38242
i dont have any buck lures out should i use some or make scrapes im afraid of scaring any bucks off that may be in the area by that i mean them seeing the scrape and thinking a much larger buck already "owns the territory" ?????
That's crazy I went out yesterday a little late so I didn't sit long but I checked my camera an I got two bucks, super excited
