I shot a big mature buck this morning but only problem was I shot his neck... the arrow went through all the way and barely any blood on it. had hairs on the end of Brodhead and when I shot him he ran about 20 yards behind brush and just stopped. He then Slowly walked away. An hour later I am not 100% sure but think I saw this buck but he was far in woods from where I was. After while I then got down and walked to where I shot him and nothing and then went to where he kinda was standing and found drops of blood every step I took for 10 yards then nothing. Do you think the Buck is okay and not going to die on me later??
Where in the neck did you hit him? Center mass close to the front? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thought closer to the back where the shoulder may start, it all happened so fast but like i said the blood was drops and nothing crazy and was a pass through but no blood at all on arrow except some on the fletching part and brown hairs on brodhead
I've got a beautiful young 10 pointer here at home that some D-bag shot in the neck this summer with a rifle from the road. Had him on camera before and after the shot and he's all healed up now and looks great. He was shot about in the same area. It looked nasty for a long time, can still see the scar. Would like to get my hands on the bastage that shot him, called the sheriff that night but the guy was gone by the time they got here. Anywho, yours will probably be okay. Not much in the neck to kill them by a delayed action, mostly either a kill quickly or not at all. Might be a good idea to avoid shooting them there in the future.
Thanks for the advice, do you think he would come back to the same spot after getting shot seeing its the rut or will he be avoiding that area?
The one here still seems to run in exactly the same area as far as I know. I think he was on the neighbors prairie field when he got shot that night and I don't run cameras there but I have a camera on the same creek about 400 yards from there and he's there all the time so I assume he's still running all the same areas.
