I am fairly new to archery hunting as this will be my 5th year. I used to hunt with a 1995 High Country Machined Supreme which I was fortunate enough have been given to start hunting with. Unfortunately the other day the string broke and instead of investing more money into that bow I am at the point where I want to invest in new gear. I know any bow I choose will just about blow that one away. I have always liked Mathews bows and was thinking about getting the No Cam. I believe a good budget for everything would be around $1,500. With that being said I would like some guidance on all the equipment as I have never had to buy anything yet except some aluminum arrows. I live in NJ and wanted to know if anyone new of any really great archery dealers as well. Thanks in advance for all the help.
Welcome with a 1500 budget you should be able to get a nice setup unless you are looking for a Hoyt Carbon. Unfortunately I'm not from New Jersey so I dotty know any dealers up that way. Biggest thing is once you find a dealer shoot the different bows to find what you like then make sure it fits you. Good luck and keep us posted on what you get. Have fun shopping.
I went and did some shooting today. I shot the Hoyt nitrum, eliet energy and a xpedition. I was impressed the most with how well the Elite shot. Anyone have any thoughts on this bow? I still have not had a chance to shoot the Matthews no cam but I keep hearing that you spend a lot of money on their marketing and can get better bow elsewhere. I can't confirm this but it is what I am hearing. Anyways I would really like some feed back. Thanks.
I have a buddy that bought a no cam and hated it and sold it. Went out and bought a elite energy 32 instead but it's all personal preference as far as I'm concerned I like the elites and how shootable they are but I love my bowtech so much more.
I have shot the No Cam several times and love it. The budget you have isn't to bad depending on how high end accessories you want to put on them. Keep an eye out for some deals on the sight and rest and you should be able to get it setup well for that price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Every person is different and likes different things. I love my No Cam but the next person doesn't. Whatever you like is what matters the most. If you can, make sure you find a shop that is willing to help you setup the bow as well after they make the sale. I've seen in too many shops once they sell you the bow they just throw the site on and hope to get you out the door. A good shop will set it up and also paper tune your bow so it is performing its best.
Owned both bows and either one is a great bow. My personal opinion is that the NoCam lived up to the hype but other have a different opinion. But with so many good choices out there its hard to go wrong unless you rush into it. You are doing the right thing by shopping around and shooting a few to see which one you like more. Good luck.
I live in Hunterdon county. I have made my decision ..... I went with an Elite Synergy. After shooting several different bows I found this one to be the most comfortable for me. I also found a great shop that is working with me to setup and tune the bow as well. Can't wait to start shooting.
Congrats, those 80% let off cams are amazing! You pretty much have to force that bow down to let down. I would recommend getting the easton injexion Deep 6 arrows. They penetrate great and have great FOC as well and fly amazing. Best of luck to you
Hi Jroz Welcome to the site and congratulations on the upgrade to your archery equipment. Best of luck to you in your archery quests.
Personally, I didnt care for the no cam. Draw is AMAZING.....but thats about it. Back wall was ok but felt really jumpy with the 75% mods and spongy with the 85% mods. I lost 14fps shooting the same arrow between the no cam and my ballistic at the same weight. To me, the no cam is not worth what they are asking for it.
I found a great shop that provides a hunting equipments in affordable range. Hunting equipment makes hunting more funny and daring for individuals.
