Go watch a true 4k fed picture (flash drive made 4k) it is amazing. I watched an upscale and a true 4k sxs and there was an amazing difference but the upscale version was awesome as well. Well above 1080 imo. I watched them at hhgreg.
Yeah, I would love to see native 4K on a 4K display. I bet it's fantastic. Did they let you bring your own material in to watch or did they have native 4K content there to watch? Tony, sorry, bud. :D
Sorry to derail as well Tony, can't speak of a blue ray as I only have one in my PC and have only used it once. As for 4k, I was so lucky as to have our house struck by lightning a couple months back. With that, I was able to replace a couple TV's in the house and decided to go ahead and upgrade to a 4K TV in the living room. I ended up purchasing this one: 55? Class LED U8700 Series TV UN55HU8700FXZA | TVs It is light years ahead of my previous Samsung 1080p TV that was less than 1 year old. The picture is amazing and the TV upscales everything to 4K on it's own. The signal from our Cable box is only 720p, but the upscale still looks great. You can see detail you never were able to see before. My TV came w. a hard drive loaded with native 4K content also, and the 4K content is ridiculous. I know 4K content is a long ways away, but with the upscalling done in TV, it really allows a 4K TV to be relevant right now.
Yea, sorry tony They had the 4k content from the factory with the tv. Direct tv has 1080i on most of their programming but there is some 1080p(as well as 5.1) movies and the upscaling to 1080p really works well. I can't wait until I have full 4k
When I first decided to upgrade, a had no interest in the curved display. I thought it was gimmicky, so I didn't even consider it. Spent several hours at Nebraska Furniture Mart looking at all the 4K TV's, and I just kept coming back to the curved. They have the exact same TV, but in a flat panel right next to the curved. All things are equal besides the curve, and it was just a noticeably better viewing experience. The only thing I have found that I don't like about it is that it gets a bit of glare on it that a flat panel wouldn't have, just due to the fact that it can glare from light coming in a full radius of area, as opposed to just a straight line(if that makes any sense). I guess the idea behind the curve is to allow the viewers eyes to see more of the whole picture without having to look around. I believe it does that. Again, I thought it was gimmicky going in, and usually when I have my mind made up, it's hard to change, but I did on this one.
The curved screen is what I was watching in true 4k but I can't even consider them due to the glare. I have an open living/kitchen and a sliding door in the kitchen let's too much light in that creates a lot of glare. They would be great for a basement entertainment room.
