Nebraska joined the Big Ten. Should be a good move for the Corn Huskers, good move for the Big Ten for sure.
If my crystal ball is working correctly today I'm guessing there are 16 teams in the before this shakeup is all said and done.
I 100% agree that Big Red and College footballs God (Tom Osborne) made the right decision. If they wudda stayed they wudda lost money and now the Big 10 will benefit the entire university. Id like to see MIZZ go to, just to have another Big 12 team there since they do meet the qualifications to be in the Big 10. While i do think the Big 10 will pick up another school, i dont think they will expand to a 16 team conference just yet. To be in the big 10 you have to be in some certain kind of Academic Association( dont hold me to it but i think it has to do with having a research based program or school or something) and Nebraska and MIZZ are already that where as some school are not. If the Pac 10 expands to bigger number and becomes a "super conference" i think then the Big 10 will make moves. Hopefully Nebraska will win the Big 12 for the next 2 season and then move on to dominate the Big 10, or 11, or whatever itll be called
i agree. the academics of the big ten are a bigger factor for teams having a chance to enter. another factor is money, the big ten has alot and the pac is basically broke. colin cowherd put it well. the pac 10 is like a mercedes benz but the paymennts aren' getting made. the big 10 is like a big ole buick, but it's got tons of money coming out of the glove compartment, under the seats ...ect. it may be dumb but i hope the conference names get changed. the big 10 hasn't been the big 10 for awhile now, and it has another team added, and possibly more to come. the pac 10 just added a team and will probly add a bunch more.
Hard to say for sure at this point. It is rumored that Texas and TA&M have or will be applying to the B10. http://www.ky3.com/news/local/96086469.html Admittedly there are a lot of rumors floating around. But, with the predicted end of the Big 12 there are going to be a lot teams looking for homes. Some of those teams are ones the Big Ten have shown interest in past. Missouri, Texas, etc. So I'm not sure how it is going to end up but I just have a feeling there are more changes to come. My best guess for teams that are in the "pool" right now are Missouri, Texas, Texas A&M, Pitt, Rutgers, Iowa State.
AAU or Association of American Universities. Those are some big wishes.... Texas and Oklahoma look to have strong programs again this year. I can see Nebraska winning the Big 12 North, but not the Big 12 overall this year. I just feel Oklahoma and Texas's talent pool is to deep with elite athletes again this year. As for dominating the Big 10, I really do not see that happening with their current crop of athletes. I can see them finishing in the upper quarter of the division but for now that's all. I truly look forward to their arrival in conference games and wish them well with their recruiting efforts in Big Ten country. Also, The Big 10 now has 12 members with the addition of Nebraska. When the Big Ten added Penn State back in the early 90's they became the 11th school in the conference.
While TX and OK do have excellent programs that are head over heels better than most schools across the country and they do have talent out of the a$$, everyone kinda looks over nebrska becuase of those schools. what did texas and oklahoma do against them last year??? Callahan ran that program into the ground and Mr. Pelini is on his way to making them an elite program like they were. how can a program survive when a coach comepletly fails. when bo gets his atheletes in the field, which that time is now, their current crop of athletes will turn some heads. Nebraska had arguably the best defense in the conference last year and they are returning their leader in tackle and sack, crick, and their leader in int's amkamarra (or however you spell it). and crick is a monster in the middle. there defense will be tops in the conference again and their offense is sub par but their running game is there and they are getting the big boys back into the mix so their running game will be improve. Zac Lee sucks and i hate him but cody green, i believe, has a very bright future and will be the starter 4 or 5 games into the season at the latest. As for the move to the big 10... they will be in the top there too. ohio state is in the same league as tx and ok with athletes and michigan will be soon be there too, iowa who always plays good football, and Penn state and wisconsin who in my opinion are either with it or they aint. i look forward to the move and the big 10 will definately be a better conference with nebraska there, and i say that not becuase i think nebraska is the best team ever but becuase it is one more team that can comepete with anyone and brings the talent level of the conference up. i dont think they will have an issue with recruiting players in Big Ten country. maybe in TX and OK country but moving to the conference expands their recruiting base. if anything they lose talent in recruiting becuase of the issue of not playing the texas and oklahoma teams and not becuase of the big ten schools.
