The gun record is sure to fall, and the famous Del Austin buck may lose it's spot as the all time Nebraska record, it'll be close after 60 day drying takes place. This big boy was shot during gun season Saturday the 14th. http://www.omaha.com/article/20091119/SPORTS07/711199688 Here's a couple pics of him at the check-in station:
I saw pictures of this deer last weekend from a guy I work with, what a deer! I dont think it will quite knock off ole mossy horns from the state record, after the drying period.
Yeah, probably won't quite beat Austin's as it's within an inch or so now, but it all depends on the scorer. That one looks like it could have quite a bit of judgement involved as where all those points arise from. Deer of a lifetime nonetheless.
Your exactly right, "all depends on the scorer". For example the Lovstuen buck shot in Iowa a few years ago, originally scored something like 8 or 9 inches more the first time it was scored. The second time it got pannel scored and they changed one of the typical tines to an abnormal or vise versa, thus the score changed to what it is offically now.
amazing! I really wonder what is going through some lucky guys head as he is putting a pin or cross hare behind a shoulder of a deer of that size, I don't know if I could handle my nerves to make a good shot..
