The buckeyes looked very average today. If things do not improve, it will be a rough season. Big win for Michigan.... Denard does not throw an accurate football. He had a lot of long balls, but they were all very poorly thrown balls that some how his receivers came up with the catch. 338 yards on 11 completions... He kept lobbing up a hope and a prayer that his guys somehow caught. Couldn't believe how careless he was throwing the ball. I believe he had 3 ints?
Big win for UofM tonight! I was fortunate enough to be at the game. Great game although we didn't really deserve to win. Go blue!
Penn State is the same old Penn State we're used to seeing. It's a tired program, and it shows more and more with each passing season. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That is the Penn State way. Believe me, I'm not taking away from Bama, as they're a solid organization, with a decent young QB, but Penn State needs to actually play 4 quarters of football, and stop the ridiculous mental mistakes. Michigan looks good, OSU was a bit shaky as you said, but both would/can handle PSU with ease. I'll be happy with a 7 win season this year.
Matt, you've been drinking toxic river water if you think Michigan looks good. ND's secondary just looked that bad.
Good is relative. When comparing them to PSU, they're good :D I agree, though, ND's secondary (heck, even the DL looked suspect at times) is a little rough:D
Denard threw the ball , well terrible. Will see if it was just bad night. 13 penalties by Toledo gives the buckeye's the win. Both MI and Ohio got gifts today.
ND's secondary was not the problem. Turnovers were. ND could have one that game going away without some bad TOs. Robinson is not a passer. The spread offense inflated his numbers as a passer. Standing in the pocket and go through his progressions is not his strong point. And even then, he is not accurate. He made mistakes you expect from a freshman, not a junior going into his second season as a starter. Yeah, new offense...I get it. Still, kid is not a passer. He was brutal throwing the ball yesterday. Before Germ labels me a UM hater, I love the kid. I'm just honest about his abilities. As long as he is UM's starting QB, it will be brutal at times (first 3 quarters) and exciting (4th quarter). He can bring them back in any game, or give games away. It will definitely be a roller coaster season with him at QB. One thing about Robinson...he never gives up. You have to love that. Man, those receivers made some plays! Defense did some good things. Certainly a learning process. They disguised some looks well and at times showed some NFL type zones. Even executed them a few times which lead to 2 INTs. Also, missed assignments a few times. Still, they are getting better. That was one of the greatest football games I have ever watched.
HOKE SAYS "WE HAVE A LOT TO WORK ON BUT A WIN IS A WIN WE ARE BACK TO TRADITION" ITS A GREAT WIN FOR MICHIGAN IN THIS RIVERALY MICH Vs ND 14 13 and 1 tie
I would agree Denard is not pocket passer, but it was one game, let us see how he does next few. How many audibles did Denard call last night? It's very obvious he is not comfortable in the pocket. Roll him out and get him moving and he is way better. Watch him throw last night he throw most passes off his back foot.
He was pretty bad in the pocket last year and on obvious passing downs. Its like this was his first bad game as a passer. He is UM's best player and a threat to score on every snap. I think Borges will get a better idea how to use him, like he did later in the game. One read pass plays, or roll him out with options. He did well in those situations and the receivers made plays. And get Koger involved more.
He had a 60+ completion percentage last year. I think the best line I have heard was this "Borges did a great job stopping Denard the first three qtr's, but he let him loose on the fourth"
If Michigan had completed passes to just half the wide open receivers early in the game... they'd have won this game earlier. I hadn't watched them much and just kept saying.... damn that guy missed another wide open man. Time and time again. YUP, ND secondary certainly failed to come out for the last bell. Total melt down. But that brings us back to the missed passes by Mich. If they had connected early... we'd have said the secondary didn't show up at all. LOL Still a wildly great game if you didn't care who won. LOL
Anyone see the -7 yard punt Oregon State performed against the Badgers? It literally went sideways out of bounds. I was at the game and I could not believe it. Here a found it in youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EFqYRnnAlQ
I wasn't impressed with Nebraska at all. Denard, well he's just not a good qb. Maybe ok for college, but he won't make it in the pros. Wisconsin will be a force OSU, well after hearing about what they did this week, who's really surprised. Alabama started their run, they needed a good win against a good team to start to come together. Iowa, first time you've let me down and not happy about that. Indiana, Wilson lost the game. Notre Dame, looked MUCH better, even though they couldnt' pull the win. Despite Denard, michigan did look tough. The UM / MSU game will be excellent. I'm pretty happy to see the big 10 may be very competitive this year. I thought Nebraska would come in and clean up but I think they will really have their work cut out for them. Martinez isn't that good of a qb.
Florida played UAB and won. That's about all I got for the Gators this week. I didn't get to see the game, but based on what I read, Weis opened the playbook up a little bit more, which is good. Rainey had another terrific game. Sharrif Floyd should hopefully have his eligibility reinstated for the Tennessee game this weekend. Tyler Bray looked especially annoying against Cincy yesterday, I hope Florida's D gets to him early and often Saturday.
