Well it depends on how Texas and Texas A&M do this year, as both of them also have/had Herman at their top targets if their coaches, who were on the hot seat to start the season, did not win. I also think USC might be in the mix at the end of the season. And maybe Auburn. Basically everyone that will be looking for a new coach
He wouldn't go to A&M or Auburn... lol. I meant what schools that would actually have a chance at getting him would LSU be competing with. Texas, LSU, USC... He may to pick between Texas and USC if both jobs opened up. That would be very difficult for LSU to compete with.
A&M has money. A&M has a legit shot if they wanted. Although A&M might balk at hiring another young coach from Houston with a high scoring offense. That is exactly what Sumlin was.
He passed second tier options like A&M last off season. He has the hottest name in coaching that isn't entrenched into their current locations (Urbz, Saban, Dabo, Jimbo etc). Dude will have options much better than A&M.
Did you see it was wrote into Hermans Houston contract that if Houson was invited into a Power 5 conference Herman would receive a 5 million dollar bonus? They will probably be invited into the Big 12 too.
$5 mil is nothing. Any school that is going to go after Herman is going to be willing to pay that $5 mil and more.
Exactly. And if that scenario plays out, I don't think he'll go anywhere. If it doesn't pan out, I still can't see him going to A&M or LSU. Texas, absolutely.. but I'm betting the USC job will open well before that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's not what I am saying. I am saying he is going to get a 5 million dollar bonus as he likely walks out the door.
He spent time at osu, it's standard operations to take the money and run All kidding aside, this guy can flat out coach. If I were LSU I would make a move for him this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just reread the article. He has a 3 million base salary. If Houston gets invited to a Power 5 his salary is increased by 2.5 million to 5.5 million per year for two years.
LSU reportedly offered Fisher $7 mil per year last year with other incentives. I'm sure Herman would get a similar offer.
Wisconsin's chancellor last year criticized OSU and Um for overpaying Urban and Harbaugh saying it was too much to be paying college coaches "Wisconsin chancellor Rebecca Blank criticizes her Big Ten peers who are paying their football coaches so much." “Those are the choices they make,” she says. “That really begins to threaten the whole sense that we are not professional athletic teams. I’m not terribly happy about the fact that they made those choices. That’s my opinion.” Barry didn't agree. "I look at it as their business,” he says. “I do. I don’t concern myself. I don’t feel like we’re in competition with salaries at Ohio State or Michigan. … When you’re Ohio State and football is as important as it is in that state, and you have an opportunity to hire someone who has a couple of national championships in his hip pocket and is from that state, it makes sense to pay him. He’s that valuable. … And Harbaugh, I think it’s a coup for Michigan and our league. I think he is worthy of that salary. That’s what they can command. The market drives that.” That was last year when both Harbaugh and Urban were both between 5-6 million.
Chump change for what the dude couldn't get from some of the big name/in need schools. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
